Karl Laundy's life has revolved around story telling. Graduating from Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach California where he split time between athletic teams and the school's TV studio, he went on to study at USC, where he played for SC's national championship Team Handball team and studied in the Visual Anthropology program where he made films documenting disappearing cultures around the world (the pilot for Odyssey: The Three Worlds of Bali and The Last Talking Chief) and worked under professors including academy award winner Barbara Myerhoff (Number Our Days).
After leaving USC his career was focused on supporting his attempts to make the Olympic team in team handball with work for USC Instructional Television where he made academic and professional growth videos for engineering majors pursuing their advanced degrees.
Taking a slight step back to gain entry into long form television. He worked as an assistant and VFX editor for several shows including Fox's Ryan Caulfield: Year One, the WB's Dead Last, Fox Family's S Club 7: Hollywood 7 and, in a note of foretelling, on the India/USA co-produced CG animated feature Sinbad: Beyond the Veil of Mists.
Karl moved back into the editor ranks, cutting shows for E! (The Fashion Police, The Daily 10, True Hollywood Stories). While also cutting animated commercials for Acme Filmworks (Charmin, Goodies Hair Care, Hasbro) and special venue/theme park ride visuals for Rhythm and Hues (Porto Europa's Seafari), Jack Morton & Co. (Disneyland's Innoventions) and again at Acme (The Underground Railroad Museum).
Karl used the special venue projects to launch into cutting stories in animatics and animation on shows for Disney/Marvel (Ultimate Spider-Man), Netflix (Neo Yokio) and Nickelodeon (NFL Rush Zone). As well as a full season of Disney Jr's Sheriff Callie's Wild West, two seasons of Netflix's F is For Family and a couple of seasons worth of Warner Bros. Scooby-Doo & Guess Who.
Over the last two years Karl has been back on Netflix shows. Cutting animatics on the first season of Oddbot Animation's "Action Pack" and then moving over to Pure Imagination Studios to cut animatics on a soon to be announced feature for LEGO and also a LEGO TV series
