Le Tarare was the first so-called "midget" or person of restricted growth to achieve prominence in dramatic roles on screen.
His co-stars in La Galerie des Monstres (1924) included Lois Moran, the inspiration for the film star Rosemary Hoyt in F. Scott Fitzgerald's Tender is the Night, and the legendary "Queen of Montparnasse" Alice Prin, aka Kiki of Montparnasse.
