‘Deadliest Catch’ returns in June 2024
Deadliest Catch Season 20 returns to Discovery on Tuesday, June 11. The 2-hour season premiere airs at 8 p.m. Et/Pt.
The milestone season will document the continuing evolution of the crab fishing industry in Alaska, which has faced serious challenges in recent years because of declining crab populations. For the first time in two years, the red king crab fishery is open. That kicks off the first derby-style race in decades. Forced to work in a tight timeframe, both rookie and veteran captains are thrust into bitter rivalries that will push everyone to their limits. At the same time, a changing weather pattern produces dangerous winter storms that put everyone at sea at risk.

Discovery Channel’s hit franchises, like “Gold Rush” and “Deadliest Catch,” featured plenty of blood and sweat. But where were the tears? That’s something Howard Lee immediately began asking, upon taking control of the network at the end of 2022.
After Lee was handed the keys to Discovery that December, “I spent my entire Christmas vacation devouring, scrutinizing, every single Discovery Channel show and familiarizing myself with it, like a fanboy. And looking at, of course, the ratings for each one and the budgets.”
As head of TLC, Lee helped grow the network to new heights thanks to blockbuster franchises like “90 Day Fiancé,” where emotion was his bread and butter. But after his crash course in Discovery fare, Lee felt that the flagship network could do a better job of creating programming that its audience found viscerally enthralling.

Hedy Lamarr: 'Invention' and inventor on Turner Classic Movies (photo: Hedy Lamarr publicity shot ca. early '40s) Two Hedy Lamarr movies released during her heyday in the early '40s — Victor Fleming's Tortilla Flat (1942), co-starring Spencer Tracy and John Garfield, and King Vidor's H.M. Pulham, Esq. (1941), co-starring Robert Young and Ruth Hussey — will be broadcast on Turner Classic Movies on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Pt, respectively.
