- Born in 1927, orphan, Philippe Lemaire was tempted to enter the French Navy before starting a movie career in 1945. He became famous in the 50s and 60s for his roles with Jeanne Moreau or Michele Morgan under the direction of Roger Vadim, Jean-Pierre Melville or Alexandre Astruc. In March 2004, one day after his 77th birthday, he comitted suicide by throwing himself under the subway in Paris.
