Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has acquired North American rights to medical thriller The God Committee, ahead of its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, with plans to release the film theatrically and on demand on July 2nd.
Written and directed by Austin Stark (The Runner), The God Committee examines today’s organ transplant system, through the eyes of those involved and affected by it, moving between two timelines. In the first, a transplant committee has one hour to decide which of three patients deserves a life-saving heart. The other, set seven years later, explores the impact of that fateful decision. Golden Globe and Emmy winner Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) stars in the feature, opposite Julia Stiles, Colman Domingo, Janeane Garofalo and Dan Hedaya (The Usual Suspects).

Exclusive: Pulse Films and Infernal Affairs director Andrew Lau have optioned English-language screen rights to Chinese comic book series Teddy Boy, the source material for Lau’s hit 90’s crime movie franchise Young And Dangerous.
Thomas Benski, Dimitra Tsingou and Brian Levy will be producing for Pulse. Lau and his producing partner Andrew Loo will be producing for Initial A. The project will be developed with an eye towards a feature film or an episodic series and Gangs Of London outfit Pulse is now out to writers and filmmakers with the intriguing material. The deal was done with Chinese publisher Concord Publishing.

Shoot has wrapped on Simon Pegg and Juno Temple starrer Lost Transmissions.
Writer-director Katharine O’Brien’s feature also stars Alexandra Daddario, Tao Okamoto, Rosanna Arquette, and Bria Vinaite.
Temple portrays Hannah, an aspiring singer/songwriter, whose mentor, a respected music producer Theo Ross, (Pegg) is struggling with schizophrenia. When Theo goes missing, she and her group of friends search for him throughout Los Angeles, hoping to get him the help he so desperately needs, while navigating the complexities of the mental health care system.
Cast is rounded out by Jamie Harris, Rebecca Hazelwood, Daisy Bishop, Danny Ramirez, Grant Harvey, Jacob Loeb, Nana Ghana and Robert Schwartzman.
Royal Road Entertainment and Underlying Tension are financing and producing the film with Pulse Films. UTA is repping domestic rights.
Producers are Filip Jan Rymsza and Olga Kagan for Royal Road Entertainment, Brigsby Bear producer Al Di for Underlying Tension and Tory Lenosky for Pulse Films.

For the fourth consecutive year Hollywood has selected its Black List, a compilation of the top unproduced screenplays for 2009. Over 300 film professionals were asked to submit the titles of up to ten of their favorite screenplays. The only condition for the picks were that the projects would not be released in theaters this year. That means some of the Black List honorees may be in the process of being turned into movies but by far the majority remain thoughts on digital ink, a blueprint for grand dramatic ideas, high-reaching adventure and controversial ideas waiting to be burned to light.
