Krantz goes digital for Westwood One
Radio network firm Westwood One has hired Gary Krantz, most recently the president of Air America Radio, as its chief digital media officer, a newly created position, the company said Monday. The appointment highlights "the immediate shift of Westwood One's digital-media portfolio from the developmental stage to execution," said president and CEO Peter Kosann, to whom Krantz will report. Kosann was made CEO in January and said that since then he has focused on digitizing the Westwood One content and securing Internet rights to that content. The company is a dominant provider of syndicated radio content, including NFL and March Madness basketball games and talk shows from Bill O'Reilly, Jim Cramer, Don Imus and Tom Leykis.

Kosann upped to CEO at Westwood One
Radio firm Westwood One Inc., which promised last month to leave "no stone unturned" in its search for a new CEO, said Tuesday that it has promoted Peter Kosann to the post. Kosann, who also will serve as president and a board member, is an executive with a six-year history at the company, managed by CBS Corp.'s CBS Radio unit. Before his promotion to CEO, Kosann was co-chief operating officer and president of sales. Kosann replaces CBS Radio chairman and CEO Joel Hollander, who took over the top job at Westwood One on an interim basis last month after Shane Coppola abruptly resigned as CEO and left the board. Coppola's departure coincided with a profit and revenue warning from Westwood One, one of the country's top suppliers of radio content, including shows starring Bill O'Reilly, Don Imus and Tom Leykis.
