- Since the mid-1990s he mostly appeared on television.
- At the age of 16 he moved to Helsinki where he tried to work as an electrician, factory worker and car mechanic. During this time he played occasionally at the theater.

- Already during his studies he took part in several film and television productions. He made his screen debut in 1960 in the drama Autotytöt, directed by Maunu Kurkvaara.
- After suffering a stroke in 2015, he ended his career the following year.
- From 1963 on he was regularly engaged at various theaters in Finland. He played at the Tampere Workers' Theatre, the Finnish National Theater and Helsingin kaupunginteatteri and the Tampereen Teatteri.
