Cinematographer, active from 1918 to 1966. Long spell at 20th Century Fox: 1925-1932 and, again, 1941 to 1946. Best known in the 1930's for
King Solomon's Mines (1937) and, later, for his work on
Alfred Hitchcock's wartime thriller
Lifeboat (1944). After 1958, worked exclusively in television.
