- He made guest appearances on all three of the longest running North American science fiction series: The X-Files (1993), Stargate SG-1 (1997) and Smallville (2001), as well as on Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda (2000).
- By his own admission, dodged the draft for the Vietnam war by moving to Canada. He never returned to live in his native USA.
- His real name was Michael George, but he decided to adopt an African name he created himself, "Nakimo Mankuma." Because he was in a band called "King Blue, Lady Rose and The Exotics," of which he was the "King Blue," he later became nicknamed "Blue," but when his drummer, Dave Mackinnon, suggested he drop the "E," he immediately liked the suggestion, and became Blu Mankuma.
