The group's original lineup consisted of
Mike Hugg
(drums),
Paul Jones
(lead vocals),
Manfred Mann
(keyboards),
Tom McGuinness
(guitar), and
Michael Vickers
(guitar). When Jones left the group in 1966,
Mike d'Abo
replaced him on lead vocals.
The band had originally planned to be called "The Mann-Hugg Blues Brothers" but management and record producers hated the name.
