- Manolete was born on July 4, 1917 in Córdoba, Córdoba, Spain. He was an actor, known for Garabatos Manolete (1945), Mi Carro (2018) and Antología taurina (1972). He died on August 29, 1947 in Linares, Jaén, Spain.
- In one of the most iconic episodes of The Twilight Zone (1959), A Game of Pool (1961), ghostly pool player Fats Brown (Jonathan Winters) compares himself to two sports legends when telling his challenger Jesse Cardiff (Jack Klugman) what it means to be the greatest at anything. Bullfighter Manolete who had died after being gored many years before the classic episode aired was one of the two real-life legends he referenced, and the other was race car driver Tazio Nuvolari (being the name that when uttered causes heads to turn in the crowds at auto racing tracks), both being examples of people who faced death every day in their respective fields of endeavor.
