Biographer, translator, author, for his literary work and for his work during WWI and WWII , in 1947, the French government authorized him, who was already member of the Académie, to use as his official name his nom de plume André Maurois.
Through his second wife Simone de Caillavet, he had links to the Belle Époque of Marcel Proust and Anatole France. His daughter Michelle Murois was an author and the wife of a prominent physician, Dr. Robert Naquet.
