Liz McCann, a groundbreaking Broadway producer who, as one of the first and most successful women to achieve a prominent leadership role in the theater industry – a term she hated, preferring “theater community” — died Thursday of cancer at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. She was 90.
Her death was announced by her longtime associate and friend Kristen Luciani.
Elizabeth Ireland McCann — known throughout the Broadway community simply as Liz — started her career in theater as a production assistant and manager with Proscenium Productions at the Cherry Lane Theatre in the 1950s. The Cort Theatre box office will open Monday, February 27 at noon for Indecent, the newest work by Pulitzer Prize-winner Paula Vogel How I Learned To Drive, it was announced today by producersDaryl Roth, Elizabeth Ireland McCann and Cody Lassen. Indecent begins previews Tuesday, April 4 and opens Tuesday, April 18 at the Cort Theatre 138 West 48th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

Daryl Roth, Elizabeth Ireland McCann and Cody Lassen, the producers of Indecent -- the newest work by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel How I Learned To Drive -- have announced that the entire original Off-Broadway ensemble will travel to Broadway when the production begins previews at the Cort Theatre 138 West 48th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, on April 4, prior to its official opening night on April 18.
