Ace Rothstein was inspired by Frank Rosenthal. Frank Rosenthal ran four casinos and he was a casino mogul. He was considered the biggest sports handicapper of all time. The casino of Sam Rothstein’s the Tangiers was a real casino and it was based on Stardust. Stardust is not clearly stated in the film and the song is played three times in a movie.
Frank Rosenthal, the actual Sam Rothstein star in a television show named the Frank Rosenthal Show. It was taped at a casino and it featured many guest stars such as Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra. Rosenthal did not judge a show and he in fact, hated that the character of Robert De Niro juggled in casinos as he thought that it makes him look like a fool.

"Britain had become a second home for us, and London is where we began our journey supporting our sophomore release 'Augustines.' Our drummer Rob Allen and multi-instrumentalist Al Hardiman are both British and we enjoy our happy NYC / London camp," Augustines frontman Billy McCarthy told HitFix. "It seemed fitting to film 'Cruel City' and our Walkabout blog in England. Viva England, Viva New York!" And so sets the scene of the rock band's first installment of their Walkabout Blog. The exclusive video above was shot while the band visited and performed in London, and features their next U.K. single "Now You Are Free," due on April 28. I interviewed Augustines -- then known as We Are Augustines -- in January 2012, around the time they released the music video to emotional, driving single "Chapel Song"; in these two years that have followed, clearly the intensity hasn't lessened. In this video blog,...

Then Pela shacked up with Great Society, the shambolic spin-off label of the World's Fair management company founded by Flaming Lips manager Scott Booker. The release of full-length "Anytime...

And this year is no different. Except, I feel like I’ve got a banker this time – a dead cert for fame and glory for the coming year.
We Are Augustines.
Remember the name. Though you won’t have to very soon, because they’ll be everywhere.
The the Brooklyn-based band formed by ex-Pela members Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson (with Rob Allen on drums) are currently touring with Scottish rockers Glasvegas, and that prestigious slot is befitting a musical act of their considerable potential. Look out for them in 2012, we expect major things from them inside the next twelve months.
