- Meyer was on board Pan Am Flight 1736 which collided with KLM Flight 1805 during the Tenerife airport disaster where 2 Boeing 747 collided (the Pan Am 747 was taxiing when the KLM eventually took off and hit the aircraft). A Canarian militant group, Fuerzas Armadas Guanches, plotted a terrorist attack at Gran Canaria Airport, resulting in aircraft bound for Gran Canaria International Airport to be diverted to Los Rodeos Airport (now Tenerife North Airport). The 583 who were killed on both 747s resulted in the deadliest aviation accident in history prior to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Eventually, she revealed that secret which was to contribute greatly to the film's success, but hid a gynecological infection from her husband - until she was admitted for life-saving surgery at the Glendale Adventist Medical Center. When her husband arrived at the hospital, she told him that now she could never have children. Her husband was actually glad for this, since although Eve had told him before that she wanted children, he balked, saying it would interfere with their careers.
