- John Miltern was born on July 13, 1870 in New Britain, Connecticut, USA. He was an actor, known for The Ne'er-Do-Well (1923), The Love of Sunya (1927) and Everybody's Old Man (1936). He died on January 15, 1937 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
- He was out walking his dog with his friend and roommate, Basil Rathbone, when he was run over by a hit and run driver. Rathbone barely escaped injury. At Miltern's funeral, Rathbone delivered the eulogy and Bobby Breen sang "Ave Maria.".
- Basil Rathbone managed to take down the license plate number of the car that had killed his friend. The next day the LA police arrested Logan Metcalf, ex-husband of Madge Bellamy, but an inquest by a coroner's jury deemed the accident "unavoidable" and absolved him of any blame, even though he admitted leaving the scene.
