Awarded the Polar Music Prize, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music

Invented the Moog Electronic Synthesizer Keyboard in the 1960s.
The Roland Keyboard Co. & the Korg Keyboard Co. are Moog's chief
rivals.
His last name rhymes with "rogue," not "fugue," as is believed commonly.
As a Ph.D. student in engineering physics at Cornell University, Moog
developed his first voltage-controlled synthesizer modules in 1964 with
composer Herbert Deutsch. By the end of that year, R.A. Moog Co.
marketed the first commercial modular synthesizer.
After his death, his family established the Bob Moog Foundation, dedicated to the
Advancement of Electronic Music, in his memory.
Father of Laura Moog Lanier, Matthew Moog, Michelle Moog-Koussa, Renee
Moog, and Miranda Richmond.
According to one of his obituaries, he had no musical preference
(unusual for a man so closely associated with the development of
electronic musical instruments) and liked to keep his surroundings in
silence.
