Star Cast: Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, Neeraj Kabi, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Govind Namdeo
Director: Meghna Gulzar
Sam Bahadur Movie Review Out! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
What’s Good: Vicky Kaushal’s attempt at bringing one of the most biopic-worthy characters in Sam Manekshaw on screen
What’s Bad: The collective work of the team to narrate a story in the most confusing and vaguely uninteresting way
Loo Break: Quite a few times!
Watch or Not?: Only and only if you can sit through 150 minutes of a film to watch how well the lead acts
Language: Hindi
Available On: Theatrical release
Runtime: 2 hours 30 minutes
User Rating:
The story revolves around the life of Army Chief Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw played by Vicky Kaushal and how he deservingly got titled ‘Sam Bahadur’ by an army officer in the Gorkha Regiment of 8th Gorkha Rifles.

Lost (Zee5)
Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury
From the director of the game-changing Pink comes a political thriller that is as much a clutter-breaker as Pink, though the concerns are not just about women here. The rot runs much deeper and , well, the female hero is not too safe here.
Being a crime reporter in Kolkata (or anywhere) is not a safe profession for anyone, man or woman. Nidhi Sahani has thrown all caution to the wimps. The goons who tail her, and her beloved grandpa (played by everyone’s favourite patriarch Pankaj Kapoor) look as dangerous as the watchmen of a housing colony.
But here is the thing: sinisterness is not a signature tune, not in this film. Danger lurks in the most ostensibly innocuous places in Lost. Director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury travels through Kolkata’s inner bowel. The master lensman Avik Mukhopadhyay brings Kolkata to life as pivotal...

Gulabo Sitabo (Amazon)
Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Farrukh Jafar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vijay Raaz
Directed by Shoojit Sircar
How do I put this politely? Gulabo Sitabo is as funny as molar surgery, or maybe even less because when you are watching a man helpless under the dentist’s drill his helpless anxiety renders itself to a kind of sadistic hilarity in the audience.
But what if that man under the drill is you, dear audience? That’s how I felt watching Gulabo Sitabo. Trapped. Miserable. Helpless…. Shoojit Sircar who has made some of the better films of recent years, seems to have devised a new method of making our quarantined life more miserable. Pinning us down to his satirical exigencies Sircar gives us a film about proprietorial greed that misses its mark by a wide margin.
To put it bluntly, Gulabo Sitabo is just not funny. I assume this killjoy comedy is supposed to be funny.

Badla
Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Tapsee Pannu, Amrita Singh
Directed by Sujoy Ghosh
The phonetic distance between badla, the Hindi word for revenge that serves as the deliciously filmy title of this delicately drawn whodunnit, and Badal, the name that the lawyer-protagonist is known by is easily bridgable. The craftily-plotted whodunit shows us why vendetta is best served cold. It unfolds in snowcapped England, you see.
Or, do you?
Amitabh Bachchan plays Badal Gupta, a hotshot lawyer on the verge of retirement who has never lost a case. Badal goes for the kill when he is invited to look into a case of a murder accused, a nonchalant imperturbable married woman named Naina Sethi whose morals are so reprehensible they make Indrani Mukerjea seem excusably misguided in comparison.
Kudos to Tapsee Pannu for playing a woman who won’t stop at anything to get what she wants. It shows the expanding...

Immediate reaction after watching Badla
Three cheers to Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Sujoy Ghosh, the Kahaani of triumph (story) gets repeated and with aplomb. Badla is a rare revenge drama, spell bindingly sensational, a terrific knock out.
The most incredible/astonishing feature of Badla

October
Starring Varun Dhawan, Introducing Banita Sandhu
Directed by Shoojit Sircar
In a film where everything that could possibly wrong for the characters, does go wrong, there is almost nothing that the director does that can even remotely be considered wrong.
Shoojit Sircar understands and empathizes with the pulse of the working class, their fears and anxieties. It could be an abundant sperm count (Vicky Donor) or constipation (Piku). The anxiety never ceases. In October, it is death and mortality that binds the characters in a clasp of compassion, not in any obvious way. But in the way the universe conspires to keep the world from falling apart.
Juhi Chaturvedi’s writing is so lucid I felt I knew first-hand all the characters who populate her wondrous world of alchemized pain.
The plot is about an obdurate seemingly obnoxious hotel-management trainee, played with wilful gusto by Varun Dhawan, who decides that the quiet,...

Pink
Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Tapsee Pannu,Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang
Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury
Rating: *****(5 stars)
How many films have you seen where you forget you are watching a film, where the line dividing the audience from the characters get so blurred as to make the distinction almost redundant?
Pink sucks us so deep into its characters’ lives that we come away breathess and anxious. For almost ten minutes after the end-titles I couldn’t move from my seat. I had just seen what three Delhi girls had gone through because they decided to have a fun night out after a rock concert with some boys .In Meenal (Tapsee Pannu), Falak (Kirti Kilhari) and Andrea (Andrea Tariang) I saw all our daughters, grappling with the befuddled notions of What Men Can Do, What Women Can’t Do and what happens when women do what men say, women can’t do.

Mumbai, June 7: Contrary to reports that Sujoy Ghosh will complete Rituparno Ghosh's "Satyanweshi", the buzz is that the late director's long-standing cinematographer Aveek Mukhopadhyay would supervise the post-production work.
Sujoy, who plays popular Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi in the film, said: "Firstly, 'Satyanweshi' is complete, so there is no question of me or anyone else associated with the film completing the film. So we're basically looking at the post-production work."
He is yet to complete the dubbing for "Satyanweshi".
"I don't know how I'll do it without Ritu to handle my faulty Bangla. Secondly, Aveek understood Ritu's vision far better than me. He has been Ritu's Dop (Director Of Photography).
