Magnolia Pictures has acquired Us rights to comedy "The Magic of Belle Isle," starring director Rob Reiner's "Bucket List" lead Morgan Freeman and Virginia Madsen. Magnolia plans a summer 2012 theatrical and VOD release via its Ultra VOD program. Witten by Guy Thomas, the film stars Freeman as an alcoholic writer of popular westerns who goes on summer vacation at a lakeside cabin in Belle Isle, where he falls for the family next door, a single mom (Madsen) and her young daughters. The film is produced by Alan Greisman, Lori McCreary, Salli Newman and David Valdes.
