After working with Sidney Pollack on " Yakuza", and with Michael
Ritchie on " Bad News Bears go to Japan" Naofumi Okamoto established
his own film studio in Hollywood in 1988, in order to bridge the gap
between Hollywood and the Japanese entertainment industry, Since the,
ha has been active in film financing for entertainment companies. In
this capacity,he has arranged many financial deals for Hollywood
studios, as well as Japanese conglomerates.
In addition to running his studio,Okamoto produced the critically-acclaimed, documentary film, " Gaia Symphony". English version, with Dalai La,a, Frank Drake, Freeman Dyson and Jaques Mayol. " Gaia Symphony" holds the record for highest-grossing documentary in Japan. The English version was performed by well-known Hollywood actors, Dana Delany, Betty White, Mark Harmon and William Devane. As a result, " Gaia Symphony" was screened at the American Embassy in Tokyo for a distinguished international audience which include the Ambassadors of 70 nations.
Okamoto's small film Illusion: starred Heather Locklear, Ned Betty and Robert Carradine and was the most rented independent film, for Blockbuster, at the time. ALso, His interview with Aung San Suu Kyi has been published by a renowned Japanese publisher and has made a tremendous sensation among those concerned Asian studies. Her story will be filmed this winter.
