- Charles Oldfather was the son of a high administrator at the University of Nebraska; Oldfather Hall at the University of Nebraska is named after his father. In 1950 he moved down to Lawrence, Kansas to become a professor at the University of Kansas School of Law. While at the University of Kansas School of Law he taught virtually every course. By 1972 he had risen to the position of University Attorney. He was active in the performing arts at the University of Kansas, and occasionally obtained roles in national productions set or filmed in and around Kansas City.
