Exclusive: There is a new writer at the helm of Peacock’s long-gestating reboot of the popular sci-fi franchise Battlestar Galactica. The Sinner creator Derek Simonds has come on board as writer, executive producer and showrunner.
Battlestar Galactica, which remains in development at Peacock, has been a passion project for Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail — a big fan of the original — whose company Esmail Corp. is producing the reboot through UCP where the company is based.
First announced as being in development at NBCUniversal’s streamer Peacock in 2019, the Battlestar Galactica reimagening previously had Michael Lesslie attached to write and executive produce.
A new take on the classic IP, the latest incarnation is executive produced by Simonds as well as Esmail Corp’s Sam Esmail and Chad Hamilton. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.
“We are working on it,” Esmail told Deadline in October about the Battlestar Galactica series reboot.

When A Million Little Things ended its five-season run on ABC earlier this year, it seemed like the door was closed on the series for good.
Now, though, there's a chance that more episodes of the beloved drama could be produced.
Series creator DJ Nash took to X this week to respond to a fan who asked if the show is over.
"It's over. For now," he responded.
In a word? Whoa.
It's not uncommon for TV series to stage comebacks after their series finales.
In this TV climate, shows return for additional seasons years after they wrap up.
Frasier recently returned, 19 years after its series finale, for example.
There's a lot of story to mine from a comeback of A Million Little Things, which gave This Is Us a run for its money as one of the most emotional shows on TV.
We're still trying to get over A Million Little Things...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for A Million Little Things Season 5 Episode 12 “Tough Stuff.”] If you didn’t sob through the penultimate episode of A Million Little Things, including while Gary (James Roday Rodriguez) was making jokes throughout, you’re made of tougher stuff than we are. As feared, after coughing up blood during Katherine (Grace Park) and Greta’s (Cameron Esposito) wedding, Gary is dying. His cancer has spread to his other lung, and it’s no longer responding to treatment. “This will be a fight,” his doctor warns. And fight Gary tries. He gets chemo. He shaves his head. He gets worse and worse, and soon, it’s Javi’s first birthday. Javi gets his dad a T-shirt reading “The Original” to go with his “The Remix.” Gary cracks a joke about being down to a medium and soon needing to raid Theo’s closet. No one laughs. “You gotta at least let me...

There are a million reasons to love A Million Little Things — as you can see in TV Insider’s exclusive first look at the series retrospective — and that’s why we’re going to miss it so when it ends on May 3. The video, which you can watch above, features the cast sharing what makes the show so special (on and offscreen), as well as a look back at the moments that have made us (and the characters) laugh and cry over the years. “We’ve always said from the beginning we would end this journey when the time is right,” Allison Miller (Maggie) says, with James Roday Rodriguez (Gary) adding, “and as hard as it is for us to say it, this feels like the right time.” And that means saying goodbye to what Grace Park (Katherine) calls “a wonderful, loving creative place and so supportive” and a show...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for A Million Little Things Season 5 Episode 11 “Ironic.”] A Million Little Things, in one of its last episodes, celebrates love with a wedding that leads to a reunion. But “Ironic” also leaves off on a note that worries us that the series could end just like it started: with a funeral. Everything stems from Katherine (Grace Park) and Greta’s (Cameron Esposito) wedding, which doesn’t exactly go off without a hitch, thanks to bad weather. They get married, with Greta wearing Katherine’s father’s wedding tuxedo after a mishap (and they have to go from a ceremony on a boat to a redecorated nautical-themed bar). In other happier news (if you’re a fan of the couple), Eddie (David Giuntoli) and Delilah (Stephanie Szostak) reunite, thanks to a push from Gary (James Roday Rodriguez) and Maggie (Allison Miller). But it’s while Gary’s getting on Eddie’s case about Delilah,...

It’s a time-honored staple of survival shows: If there’s a group of people in a high-stakes situation during which a pregnancy would be remarkably inconvenient — if not downright deadly — someone’s pregnant. Examples include Claire (Emilie De Ravin) on Lost, Evelyn (Emily Blunt) in A Quiet Place, Sharon Agathon (Grace Park) on Battlestar Galactica, and so on. On Yellowjackets, Shauna (Sophie Nelisse) winds up the bearer of the “pregnant survivor” trope. However, this being Yellowjackets, we’re wondering how this familiar story might be flipped on its head… perhaps through supernatural-wilderness means. We know Teen Shauna grows up to become Melanie Lynskey, so she won’t die in childbirth. But what happened to that baby? Munch with us on these three potential theories. Kailey Schwerman/Showtime Theory #1: Shauna Loses the Baby On the surface, this seems the most likely route for the show to take. To say...

A Million Little Things is going out “in a big way” for each of the characters, series star David Giuntoli (Eddie) promised when he, Romany Malco (Rome), and James Roday Rodriguez (Gary) sat down with TV Insider’s Damian Holbrook to talk about the final season of the ABC drama. By the finale, it will have been five years that we followed this friend group — Eddie, Rome, and Gary, along with Katherine (Grace Park), Regina (Christina Moses), Maggie (Allison Miller), and Delilah (Stephanie Szostak) — and the farewell begins with the premiere on February 8. Heading into these episodes, we know that there’s reason to be concerned about Gary (cancer), but this means that he’ll have to accept help from others. “That’s been the arc for Gary: learning how important self-love and accepting love is and it’s actually what balances and makes the love he gives out so much more meaningful,...

“A Million Little Things” has been filled with emotion since its 2018 debut — and the final season is set to follow suit.
Per the show’s official description, Season 5 kicks off with a funeral, which sees the group coming together “celebrate the life of a loved one who dies unexpectedly.” However, it won’t be the only death of the season, creator DJ Nash confirms to Variety. “Someone else passes away,” he says, careful not to give away anymore.
The show, which is rooted in Nash’s own relationships and personal experiences, stars David Giuntoli, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, Christina Moses, Grace Park, James Roday Rodriguez, Tristan Byon, Lizzy Greene and Chance Hurstfield. ABC announced the series’ end in November — a decision Nash had known for a long time.

A Million Little Things is bidding farewell to its audience with a parallel to the first season, as the group begins to rally around a friend who is fighting for his life after a cancer diagnosis.
During ABC‘s Television Critics Association panel on Wednesday, showrunner Terrence Coli and executive producer DJ Nash discussed how they were planning to bring the series to a close.
“It feels like a bookend,” said Coli, in reference to how the show began with Jon Dixon (played by Ron Livingston) dying by suicide in the pilot and its impact on his close friends. “The friend group is going to rally around Gary [whose cancer returned in Season 4 but only Maggie knew about it until Rome accidentally stumbled upon his secret in the season finale]. They have been there for reach other and have shown up, through all the trials and tribulations.”

The end is reportedly in sight for ABC's A Million Little Things.
TV Line is reporting that the forthcoming fifth season is being crafted as its last.
ABC has yet to confirm the report, but the outlet notes that the decision to bring the show to a close was a mutual decision between creator DJ Nash, the network, and the production companies behind the series.
The series spent the last season on the bubble, averaging 1.9 million viewers and a 0.26 rating among adults 18-49.
It was the second lowest-rated scripted series on the network, meaning that a renewal was not a guarantee.
Amlt has always been a strong performer digitally, so that likely moved the need towards renewal for the buzzy series.
The most recent fourth season rose 133 in the demo, with a week of DVR factored in.
After 35 days of viewing across all linear and digital platforms, the drama is ABC’s No.

The network did not confirm it at the time and has yet to acknowledge that Amlt will be ending this coming season, but that remains very much the case.

First of all, Anna (Erin Karpluk) did kill her ex-husband, Peter (Andrew Leeds) — the teacher who’s assaulted Sophie (Lizzy Greene) — albeit accidentally and was arrested after confessing. Meanwhile, Gary (James Roday Rodriguez) and Maggie (Allison Miller) found out they’re having a baby, but then Rome (Romany Malco) and Regina (Christina Moses) watched one of his videos and found out Gary has cancer. In happier news, Katherine (Grace Park) fixed things with Greta (Cameron Esposito). Executive producers DJ Nash and Terrence Coli break down the finale and tease what’s ahead. What can you say about the story you want to tell for Gary this time when it comes to cancer? DJ Nash:...

ABC has picked up ensemble drama A Million Little Things for a fifth season. The network is not labeling Season 5 as final, but I hear it is expected to be the closing chapter of the DJ Nash-created series.
It came down to the wire for A Million Little Things, whose core cast includes David Giuntoli, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, Christina Moses, Grace Park and James Roday Rodriguez. Like is the case with most bubble show renewals these days, the pickup came after difficult license fee negotiations as networks are pushing down on what they pay for moderate performers amid sliding linear ratings.
Cancellations/Renewals Scorecard: TV Shows Ended Or Continuing In 2021-22 Season
I hear ABC had asked the Amlt creative team not to write the Season 4 finale as a series finale, which brought on a lot of anxiety as renewal negotiations dragged on, with the season finale, airing May...

The series starred David Giuntoli as Eddie Saville, Romany Malco as Rome Howard, Allison Miller as Maggie Bloom, Christina Moses as Regina Howard, Grace Park as Katherine Saville, James Roday Rodriguez as Gary Mendez, Stephanie Szostak as Delilah Dixon, Floriana Lima as Darcy Cooper, Tristan Byon as Theo Saville, Lizzy Greene as Sophie Dixon, and Chance Hurstfield as Danny Dixon.
In the season finale, the strength of Maggie and Gary’s relationship is put to the test once again. Rome makes a sacrifice for a student in distress. Theo turns to an unlikely source to help his mom through a rough patch, and Eddie learns a shocking secret about Anna.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 15, “Fingers Crossed.”] What better way to keep a guy’s mind off the possibility that his cancer has returned than with a game night introducing exes’ new girlfriends to the friend group? Such is the case for the latest A Million Little Things. Katherine (Grace Park) brings Greta (Cameron Esposito). Eddie (David Giuntoli) brings Anna (Erin Karpluk). Yep, it’s an interesting game night as Gary (James Roday Rodriguez) waits to find out if his cancer is back. Fortunately, it’s not—and he and Sophie (Lizzy Greene) are on better terms after he helped kidnap the man who assaulted her, Peter (Andrew Leeds), as a result of the scare. “Fingers Crossed” marked creator DJ Nash’s directorial debut—he also wrote the episode with Michelle Leibel. “It was probably our most comedy-heavy episode we’ve done. And I remember thinking—[we had booked] a director new...
