- Charles Pathé was born on December 25, 1863 in Chevry-Cossigny, Seine-et-Marne, France. He was a producer and director, known for À la conquête du pôle (1912), Arrivée d'un train (1896) and Débarquement d'un bateau (1896). He was married to Marie Foy. He died on December 25, 1957 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

- Started making movies with his brother Emile in 1894, after purchasing his first film camera at a fair. It was an Edison machine.
- Was originally a phonograph importer before deciding to build his own film studio.
- In 1902 he acquired the Lumiere patents.
- Using Charles's phonograph, the Dufayel store at 24 rue de Clignancourt, Paris, started (March 15th 1900) to show sound film.
- 16th February 1905: At the location of 31 Boulevard des Italiens, Paris, he opened a display room to show his films to showmen and cinema owners.
