Directors Daina Reid and Kay Pavlou will be the special guest presenters for Screenworks’ 2020 Online Directing Intensive.
Put on in partnership with the Australian Directors Guild (Adg) with support from Screen Queensland and Screen Nsw, the intensive, to be held in September, is aimed at early career directors based in regional Australia – up to 18 will be selected to participate.
Reid will present a three-hour online intensive on skills and techniques for directing drama, while Pavlou will then deliver a three-hour workshop focused on point of view documentary storytelling.
Both guest speakers will provide advice and guidance about screen industry career opportunities and pathways during the workshop. There will be the opportunity to receive a half-hour one-on-one consultation with one of the speakers to receive advice on projects, skills development and careers.

The West Australian Screen Awards celebraes excellence and achievements in feature film, short film, web series, music videos, television production, documentary, games and interactive productions.
Short drama We Were Here, directed by David Vincent Smith and produced by Joshua Gilbert and Simon Camp, earned six nominations, the most for the awards.
Short comedy Flushed, directed and produced by Richard Eames, also received six nominations.
ABC comedy TV series The Legend of Gavin Tanner, written and directed by Matt Lovkis and Henry Inglis and produced by Lauren Elliott received five nominations, as did short drama Sol Bunker, produced by Glen Stasiuk and directed by Nathan Mewett.

The South Australian Film Corporation has announced the teams that will participate in its factual content initiative The FACTory.
The teams are Mark Patterson and Kay Pavlou from Go Patterson Films; Matthew Bate, Sophie Hyde and Caroline Man from Closer Productions, Mike Piper and Corey Piper from Piper Films; David Ngo, Emily Griggs and Nick Matthews from Projector Films; Kristian Moliere, Julie Byrne, Vikki Sugars, Jen Jones and Colin Thrupp from Cineum; Quentin Kenihan and Shane McNeil from Q Productions; and Lindy Taylor and Justin O’Donoghue from The Snowglobe Factory.
The FACTory is a $2.1m initiative between the Safc and the ABC, to develop South Australian factual content for the broadcaster’s prime time slots.
