George Sessions Perry

Won the 1941 National Book Award for "Hold Autumn in Your Hand".
Created with his wife the "Cities of America" series for The Saturday Evening Post.
Worked as a war correspondent during the Second World War.
Perry's body was found in the East River two months after he disappeared from his Guilford, CT home.
Perry, who suffered from depression, had told friends that he heard voices urging him to jump into the river and swim until he reached the North Pole.
