A new documentary - A Future WWE: The Fcw Story – has landed on the WWE Network, with a nice feature-length look at Florida Championship Wrestling, the development territory for WWE for many years before Nxt took over.
This is good stuff. A big variety of talking-heads, from the owner of Fcw, Steve “Skinner” Keirn, to some of the guys who worked as trainers for him, like Tom Prichard Normal Smiley, all the way to the tons of Fcw alumni who would go on to bigger things in WWE eventually. We see men and women like Seth Rollins, The Bellas, Charlotte Flair, Drew McIntyre, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Big E, Curt Hawkins and others, talking about their time in Fcw, about the things they learnt there and what the promotion meant to them, and still does all these years later.
It’s great to see some of the rare video footage of...

To celebrate the release of WWE Royal Rumble 2016 on DVD and Blu-Ray, we’ve teamed up with WWE to offer you the chance to win one Blu-Ray and an Exclusive A3 sized printed Road to WrestleMania Infographic.
This year’s Royal Rumble was a bit different to normal as the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was on the line for the first time ever. The 1992 event saw a vacant title up for grabs, but this was the first time a Superstar had been forced to defend his gold against 29 other men.
Unlucky, Roman Reigns.
As well as the Rumble match itself, this was the pay per view that saw Dean Ambrose defend his Intercontinental Championship against Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match; The New Day defended their Tag Team Championships against The Usos; Kalisto challenge Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship; while Charlotte and Becky...

The full content listing for the upcoming WWE DVD and Blu-ray set on the life and death of Owen Hart has been revealed, courtesy of the Wrestling DVD Network. The list includes all chapter titles for the documentary feature on disc one, as well as all extras, including the full list of matches selected for the package.
Bret Hart recently commented on the documentary portion of the set, sounding very pessimistic about the chances that the documentary will do a good job telling the full story of his brother’s life. Bret believes that WWE is having to walk on egg shells to cater to Owen’s widow, Martha, who is not supporting the DVD release.
Bret told the Fight Network:
“I’m looking forward to it but I’m not really optimistic that it’s going to be a great job. Martha handcuffed them so much. I...

A lot of people have been talking about Benjamin Morris’ 538 piece, “Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate?”
Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.
Differences in methodology from Morris
I also used Social Security Actuarial Life Tables, but my “expected mortality rates” for the age groups were not the same as Morris’. For each wrestler, I calculated what their age would have been as of today. Then, based on gender, I looked up the number of lives (out of 100,000) that were expected to still be alive and converted that to a percentage. His analysis looked at wrestlers who were on 20+ WWF PPVs through 2002. I went with a...

Pixar has quietly hired Tom Prichard, former senior vp marketing at interactive toy company LeapFrog, to develop its consumer products business. Pixar representatives did not return several calls seeking comment, but sources confirmed that Prichard has apparently become the first-ever head of that area for Pixar. The fit would seem a natural one as LeapFrog is the Pixar of the toy world: a little company that took everyone by surprise with its creativity and success. The company -- based in the Silicon Valley town of Emeryville, like Pixar -- has set the educational/interactive segment of the toy industry on fire the past several years with its innovative products. Although the company's stock has taken a beating over uneven performance, LeapFrog is considered a creative leader that has forced the biggest toy firms to play catch-up.
