With the release of Tremors 5: Bloodlines last week, we thought this would be a perfect time to speak with Jonathan Melville, author of the recent book, Seeking Perfection: The Unofficial Guide to Tremors, which takes a look back at the original film, the Tremors sequels, and the ill-fated television series.
What inspired you to celebrate the Tremors films in book form (beyond the fact that they’re awesome fun)?
Jonathan Melville: I remember watching Tremors on BBC One here in the UK in 1994 (I was 16) and immediately falling for the mix of comedy, horror, sci-fi, western and romance that I hadn’t seen in any other film.
From then on I kept stumbling across the sequels; I rented Tremors 2 from a VHS store while on holiday in Canada and the others on video and DVD when they came out—and each time enjoyed the way the franchise evolved. There...

Apparently, there was a Tremors series that was released on Syfy in 2003. There is an interesting story here as the series was aired out of order. Episode 6 followed episode one and episode 2 was released following episode 7 (Wiki). How is that for confusion? The series was released on iTunes in 2007 and now Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing the series, March 9th. The show, which includes thirteen episodes, and DVD details are below (a Tremors 4 is on the way).
The synopsis for Tremors: The Series:

El Blanco is a 30-foot worm creature who hunts prey by sound. It is an endangered species, so as long as El Blanco is around, Perfection can't be bulldozed by any greedy developers. To protect their home, the people of...

Stampede Entertainment, the team behind Sci-Fi Channel's Tremors: The Series, is reuniting for another horror pic entitled Night Crew. Nancy Roberts (packager of the original Tremors and producer of Tremors 2,3,and 4) will produce with Ron Underwood onboard to direct (as he did the original Tremors) from a screenplay by S. S. Wilson and Brent Maddock. Like Tremors, Night Crew is a fast-moving monster tale full of quirky characters, scary moments, and laugh-out-loud humor, but this time in an urban setting. And thats not all thats happening. In the coming months, were launching something new on the Stampede site: posting chapters of one of our fantasy adventure stories in novel form. Watch for the first installment of Zoo Ship, the tale of four fishermen who meet a crafty planet-hopping alien in the land of 10,000 lakes.
