Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 continues to break records and make headlines on the road to Halloween, and this latest headline is one of the biggest the franchise has made to date.
With a worldwide box office of $55.1 million at the time of this article being written, Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 is now officially the highest grossing unrated movie Of All Time!
Leone tweets, “Terrifier 3 crosses $50M at the worldwide box office and officially becomes the highest grossing unrated film, even surpassing the highest grossing Nc-17 films.”
Here in the United States, the Bloody Disgusting & Cineverse release has scared up $44.5 million at the box office thus far, slaughtering the $10.9 million domestic take for Terrifier 2.
Worldwide, Leone’s Terrifier 2 ended its run with $15.7 million back in 2022, a number the Christmas-themed sequel slashed through in its domestic opening weekend alone.
Interesting to note, the previous record holder for an unrated movie...

Writer/director Damien Leone had a budget of around $55,000 to work with on his breakout horror film Terrifier, and a budget of “a little over” $250,000 for Terrifier 2, which was a massive hit when it was released in 2022, earning $15.1 million at the box office. Since the second film did so well, Terrifier 3 has a substantially higher budget. A “couple million” went into this one – and while the reviews of Terrifier 3 were generally positive (JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols considers the film to be the best entry in the Terrifier franchise), some fans were left feeling that something was missing. Leone has admitted that he cut the movie down to make sure it wouldn’t be as long as Terrifier 2 was… so is that why there seemed to be gaps in the story? Leone says that’s not the case, that he purposely made the movie in an ambiguous style.

The U.K. premiere of Damien Leone’s holiday slasher “Terrifier 3” was something straight out of a horror movie.
Eleven audience members walked out of the theater, nine during the opening scene, and one on-looker lost their lunch watching the latest escapades of series mascot Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton. While a screening like this would spell disaster for some, producer Phil Falcone celebrated the extreme reactions as testamate to the hard work of Leone and special effects lead Christien Tinsley.
“It’s a slasher gore film with practical effects,” Falcone said. “So if you’re getting people to vomit and leave the theater, and they went there for horror, that’s a pretty good job, I’d say.”
Leone’s latest installment sees the bloodthirsty harlequin spreading Christmas cheer and fear to “Terrifier” scream queen Siena Shaw (Lauren Lavera) and the rest of the Miles County residents.

Terrifier 3 smashed box office expectations past weekend, a huge win for indie horror, fans of the Terrifier series, and, of course, everyone who has worked so hard over the last 10+ years to create the Terrifier films. I remember first interviewing Damien Leone when All Hallow's Eve was released, and it's been incredible to see the journey that he and Art the Clown have taken over the years.
Now that horror fans around the world have had a chance to see the film, I wanted to share my recent conversation with Lauren Lavera, who joined me as a special guest on our Corpse Club podcast. Lauren and her character, Sienna, have also had an incredible journey over the course of Terrifier 2 and 3, and we discuss her experience on set, the future of Terrifier, her martial arts background, fan interactions, favorite horror films, and more!

The first film in writer/director Damien Leone’s Terrifier franchise had a running time of 85 minutes, which I feel is just about perfect for a slasher movie. Then Leone went wild on Terrifier 2, letting it go on for 138 minutes… which a lot of viewers didn’t mind, while others (like me) thought was painfully excessive. So when he was working on the recently released Terrifier 3, he promised this one would be shorter. And it is, slightly. Terrifier 3 has a running time of 125 minutes – and during an interview with Coming Soon, Leone took a moment to defend the length of the Art the Clown sequels.
When he was asked about running time complaints and lessons learned while making these movies, Leone said, “I’m happy with what Terrifier 2 is. I’m happy with the length of it, but what wasn’t working for a lot of people was the length.

Terrifier 3 is the No. 1 movie in America! To celebrate, Art went to Spirit Halloween!
After swinging through Spencer’s earlier in the day, Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) kept his shopping spree alive by terrifying patrons at his local Spirit Halloween. If you couldn’t tell by his grin, the world’s favorite movie maniac was delighted to see his face in so many places. Having said that, he wasn’t going to let an animatronic do his bidding.

Hand to god, I swear this is not a stunt.
Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 is on its way to becoming the #1 film in the country and along the way it has been the center of several major stories, including being banned to minors in France, having two people pass out in Australia, and one person vomiting at the UK premiere.

In the cinematic battle between the clowns, I doubt many believed that Art would win over Joker. However, Terrifier 3 is shaping up to become a big success, while Joker: Folie à Deux is struggling. The latest installment of Damien Leone’s blood-soaked gore-fest is now playing in theaters and has been receiving rave reviews. There have also been reports of people vomiting during screenings, which is pretty much a seal of approval for a movie like this. Terrifier 3 has already taken in $2.6 million in Thursday night previews, which is all the more impressive when you consider that it cost just $2 million to make.
“After surviving Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre, Sienna and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives,” reads the description for Terrifier 3. “As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind.

Plot: Art the Clown is set to unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve.
Review: When you think Terrifier, you usually think Art the Clown and a whole lot of murder. And if there’s one thing he’s good at, it’s the red stuff. The one issue I’ve always had with the Terrifier series is that it’s always been lacking in narrative. It mostly felt like moving from kill to kill and trying to soak in the trauma of it all. The second one introduces more background but it still doesn’t feel like a cohesive story. Finally, Terrifier 3 feels like what the series was always meant to be.
Terrifier 3 picks up five years after the events of 2, with the survivors just trying to live their lives. Sienna (Lauren Lavera) still has a lot of Ptsd.

The Terrifier franchise just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Terrifier 3 is now in theatres (you can read our review at This Link) and looking to be a mega-hit (especially when taking its $5 million budget into account), novelizations and a podcast are in the works, Terrifier 4 has already been promised – and now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have revealed that a video game is coming in 2025! The game is called Terrifier: The ARTcade Game and it’s described as being “a sidescrolling beat-’em-up that pays tribute to legendary titles like Splatterhouse, Double Dragon, Battletoads, and Streets of Rage.” A trailer has arrived online to give a preview of what a sidescrolling Art the Clown beat-’em-up looks like, and you can watch that in the embed above.

While it’s great that Art the Clown has made his way into the video game sphere, it’d be even better if he had his own game. Relevo and publisher Selecta Play are doing just that next year with Terrifier: The ARTcade Game, a sidescrolling beat-’em-up that pays tribute to legendary titles like Splatterhouse, Double Dragon, Battletoads, and Streets of Rage.

The “Terrifier” franchise has always been Art for Art’s sake, as its magical killer clown randomly slashed, bludgeoned, bit, scourged and even shot his way through whomever happened to be around. The third entry is mostly brimming buckets more of the same with Art the Clown going to town, but there are some important changes. “Terrifier 3” settles on a franchise hero and attempts to, ahem, flesh out a character or two. The real shock is that it seeks to build an arching narrative. Oh, and it’s a Christmas movie.
In “3”, the sister and brother who survived “2” are dealing with their trauma five years after they found the clown of renown down to drown their family and friends in their own blood. Sienna (Lauren Lavera), who assumed a sword-wielding, avenging-angel guise from her comic-artist father’s drawings to behead Art (before he reconstituted in a new flashback), is...

Spooky season is upon us and that means we've got some brand new horror movies hitting theaters. For the first time in what feels like a long while, genre fans have a new slasher icon to grace the silver green semi-regularly in the form of Art the Clown, who is back for a new round of rampage in "Terrifier 3." Over the last decade, Damien Leone's killer clown has had a slow but sure rise to fame in the horror world. Now he's returning for his most high-profile killing spree yet -- one that is already causing people to make a break for the exit in theaters. The question for viewers is: does that killing spree end when the credits roll? Or is there more to this one?

Murderous mime Art the Clown returns once again in the third instalment of writer-producer-producer Damien Leone’s gorily gruesome slasher franchise. This time around, rather than dishing out his singular brand of homicidal mayhem on Halloween, he has his sights set on a different holiday, meaning that Terrifier 3 might just be the goriest Christmas movie ever made. Ho, ho, ho.
After an extended prologue in which Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) slaughters an entire family while dressed in a Santa suit, the film picks up where the jaw-dropping post-credits scene to the previous movie left off, effectively adding a supernatural element to Art’s mythology, while also establishing that he is now up and about again, despite having had his head cut off.

Lauren Lavera wouldn't let the 'Terrifier 3' special effects team use Nutella to replicate human faeces for a scene in the film because she didn't want her love of the spread ruined. The 30-year-old actress plays 'final girl' Sienna Shaw in the slasher sequel, which sees her heroic character take on the murderous Art the Clown - played by David Howard Thornton - who is back to wreak havoc at Christmas this time. Lauren says one of the most memorable days on set was when her character was attacked with removed intestines and she had to bite through them to survive. The 30-year-old actress told director Damien Leone and the team not to fill the prop intestines with the popular hazelnut chocolate spread because she'd never be able to eat it without that memory again and instead they used crushed cherries and dish soap for the effect.In...

In the wake of Damien Leone’s slasher sequel Terrifier 3 making waves over in the United Kingdom after multiple people walked out of the premiere, the Classification Committee over in France is drawing a line and quite literally banning minors from seeing Terrifier 3.
A first for the horror genre since the release of director Darren Lynn Bousman’s Saw 3 back in 2006, the Classification Committee in France has recommended a ban on the film for minors under 18, distributors Esc Éditions, Shadowz Films and Factoris Films have let us know.
In other words, anyone under 18 is not admitted into theaters to see Terrifier 3.
This particular rating is very rarely used, and it’s the equivalent of the MPA’s Nc-17 rating here in the United States. In the States, Terrifier 3 will be released in theaters fully Unrated.

A “couple million” is going into this one, and we’re going to get the chance to see how that translates to the screen when the film receives a theatrical release on October 11th… but there have already been some screenings, and you can hear the reactions of some audience members in the audience reaction trailer embedded above. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting report that nine people walked out of the UK premiere within the first ten minutes of the movie (two more followed them out later), and that one audience member vomited along the way.

In the realm of the box office, it's all relative. A movie that costs $100 million to make can make $100 million in theaters and it becomes a financial trainwreck. A movie that costs $1.5 million to make, such as James Wan's "Insidious," can make that same amount and be the beginning of a long-running franchise. I say this to tee up the ball for the release of "Terrifier 3" in theaters next weekend. Is this movie going to make $100 million? No, it is not. Is it going to make an absolute killing relative to what it cost to make? It certainly appears so, continuing Art the Clown's unlikely rise from relative obscurity to modern slasher superstar.
Director Damien Leone's "Terrifier 3" is currently eyeing an opening weekend between $4 and $8 million, per Box Office Theory. That may not sound like much but let's consider for a moment that this is hitting theaters in its pure,...

A clown, a drunk, and Santa Claus walk into a bar.
Sounds like the setup for an off-color joke, but that’s the scene I witnessed upon visiting the set of Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 earlier this year. As you might expect, the punchline is a bloody one.
“I’ve been really looking forward to this scene,” Art the Clown actor David Howard Thornton tells me. “It’s like the costume shop scene [in Terrifier 2] or the pizzeria scene [in Terrifier]. It’s such a fun scene, and then it gets serious. I think it has one of the more creative kills in the movie.”
Thornton shares the scene with Daniel Roebuck as jolly old Saint Nicholas and Clint Howard as a barfly named Smokey.

Packing all the seasonal joy of a stocking stuffed with offal or a wreath made of human tongues, writer-director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 turns the most wonderful time of the year into a gut-churning festival of carnage. Leveling up from the viral hit that was Terrifier 2 with a bigger budget, stronger performances, and a more well-modulated tone, the film is chockablock with enough nasty delights and surprising amounts of heart to lift the series from its origins as a glorified effects reel into something near splat cinema art.

The much-anticipated Terrifier 3 had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest today, and during a Q&a following the movie, director Damien Leone was asked what’s next for the franchise. “I love that you’re still thinking about the next one after [watching all] that,” Leone said. “So — yes, there will be a Terrifier 4.“
Leone wouldn’t spill any details on what’s to come in Terrifier 4, but it’s a good bet that audiences will be in store for more over-the-top gruesome kills. As for Terrifier 3, the sequel takes place five years after the events of the last movie during the Christmas season. Many classic Christmas horror movies serve as inspiration, including Tales from the Crypt installment All Through the House and Black Christmas. “That’s one of my favorite subgenres of horror — Christmas horror,” Leone said. “I just love that tone. It’s the perfect marriage of horror and Christmas.

One of the most popular new horror icons of the modern era, Art the Clown returns to the big screen on October 11 in Bloody Disgusting, Cineverse and director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3, which just had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest (read the very first reviews here).
During the Fantastic Fest Q&a last night, Damien Leone told the audience that he definitely intends on making a fourth Terrifier movie. Leone assured, “Yes, there will be a Terrifier 4.”
This isn’t an official announcement of Terrifier 4, to be clear, but we figured fans of the franchise would be excited to hear that Leone definitely plans on making another installment.
Thanks to our friends over at Fangoria for being the first to report this one. On that note, Terrifier 3 made the cover of the magazine’s new issue, which you can grab a copy of right now!

“Terrifier 3” has not yet arrived in theaters, but already its writer and director Damien Leone confirmed that he will make “Terrifier 4.”
The third installment of the slasher franchise premiered Thursday at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. During a Q&a, Leone affirmed, “Yes there will be a ‘Terrifier 4.’” No further details were given.
The franchise gained a cult following with its first release, but it only became a big name in horror after the sequel came out. “Terrifier 2” surpassed expectations, reaching $15 million in box office sales. The movie’s budget, in contrast, was less than a tenth of that at $250,000.

The film even opens with Detective Toth (Robert Bronzi) walking in on, and bloodily dispatching, a couple of armed robbers who are standing between him and his beer. “You look familiar,” the shaken cashier tells him. “I get that a lot”. But, more importantly, it has something Bronson never had to deal with, a werewolf.
Unfortunately for Toth, he was off duty and already reeking of booze at the time of the incident, so instead of a commendation, he gets suspended by Captain Rhodes. He tells him to get his shit together so he won’t have to make it permanent,...
