- Theater World Award winner for the Broadway play "Shogun: The Musical," 1991.
- Attended Loretto Heights College (now Teikyo Loretto Heights University), 1979 - 1983, as a Drama Major. Among his many successful roles there were as King Mongkut in "The King and I" and Bernardo in "West Side Story." For the latter, he won the award for best actor in a musical, presented by the student body, in 1983.
