Since the February 2nd episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock has made a return to WWE programming, hinting at his regular appearances leading up to WrestleMania 40. His ongoing feud with Cody Rhodes implies that The Great One will play a significant role in WWE in the coming weeks. With that said, there was also a time when The Great One refused to travel with his old tag team partner, due to one big reason.
The Rock
Fans are eagerly anticipating a potential showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns, but there’s also a collective desire to ensure that Cody Rhodes’ storyline isn’t overshadowed. Initially, there were concerns about this imbalance, but a more balanced approach has been adopted. As a result, there has been a shift in the trajectory of WrestleMania 40’s storyline. However, fans are now genuinely enjoying the direction it has taken, especially after the initial backlash.

Roman Reigns is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and he has been on top of the world for well over three years now. That is why it comes as no surprise he is viewed as the biggest star in professional wrestling. Fans still want him to face off against The Rock, and it appears The Tribal Chief might have made a huge mistake by trusting Dwayne Johnson.

Initially, it appeared to be heading in that direction, but cooler heads prevailed. As a result, fans will now witness Cody Rhodes going head-to-head with Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40 instead.

After training Tommy “The Machine” Gunn and Adonis “Donnie” Johnson, Sylvester Stallone may enter WWE to train ex-Bloodline member Sami Zayn. The actor became synonymous with his character Rocky Balboa in the boxing world and played a crucial role in widening the reach of the sport in America. However, one former WWE legend is not happy about this news and shared that he would denounce the star’s Rocky films if his WWE entry ever happened.
Sylvester Stallone in and as Rocky
The legend is none other than pro wrestling veteran Vince Russo. Sami Zayn had a string of bad luck in the recent past. However, his last year’s match against Roman Reigns for the title of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion made him a people’s favorite, despite losing the match.

Professional wrestler, Ronda Rousey, has starred in quite a few gripping Hollywood projects, including Fast & Furious 7 as Kara. Before becoming who she is today, Ronda Rousey was the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in Judo at the Summer Olympics (2008). Ten years later, the wrestler began her journey in professional wrestling and has since won many feats going forward. Ronda Rousey’s name cannot be mentioned without bringing up her longtime close friend and wrestler, Shayna Baszler.

Together, the two of them have been one of WWE’s top female duos as they were practically undefeatable when they worked together. That was until Shayna Baszler turned on Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank. Thus began a feud between the two friends which eventually led to them fighting each other at the SummerSlam (2023). The story of World Championship Wrestling is one of an amazing rise but then a tragic fall that was hard to watch. While the American wrestling promotion spent much of its early days as second best, WCW figured itself out at a time when the World Wrestling Federation was destroying itself in the ’90s. WCW rose up and became what seemed like an unstoppable force before tripping on its own success while WWF recovered from its mistakes and regained traction. Having lost all that momentum, WCW did itself no favors by spending the next several years making every single bad decision possible. They absolutely could not get a win if they tried.
Now the dead promotion is considered a cautionary tale and a pile-on for jokes about the Shockmaster, David Arquette, the Fingerpoke of Doom, Hulk Hogan being humped by a giant mummy, the fumbling of Steve Austin, Judy Bagwell on a forklift,...

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a doctor putting his hand on your crotch and telling you to cough. Kafgh!!!! Hey. Supposedly, we got a big tag match for the main event. The teacher with a dynamite ass always says that you should drop your pants if you want me to raise your grade. Well, Mr. Nathan is in the room and last week’s assignment is due now. Does Impact have questions 4 through 10 finished and ready to grade? Match #1: Io Shirai def. Shotzi Blackheart The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Shotzi Blackheart quickly proved she was more than up to the task of standing toe-to-toe with the champion, putting forth a courageous effort against Io Shira. In the end though, it was The Genius of the Sky prevailing, putting Blackheart away with her patented top-rope moonsault after a worthy challenge.

Dark Side of the Ring from Vice, is a show that delves into the underbelly of professional wrestling, a look at the stories that are, for a variety of reasons, coated in controversy. The first season was great, but the second season, which finished airing just last week with it’s final episode, was even better. Directed by Jason Eisener who created the show alongside Evan Husney, it is an authentic and real peek behind a curtain that is rarely pulled back this much.
With Chris Jericho on board and working as the narrator, these episodes bring many tales to the conversation and each offer insight and opinion from a whole list of relevant names. The episodes included in Season Two were;
Episode 1: Benoit – Part 1 Episode 2: Benoit – Part 2 Episode 3: The Life and Crimes of New Jack Episode 4: The Brawl For All Episode 5: Jimmy Snuka and...

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have more bull-s— from the thing that will likely kill the WWE, not because it’s bad, but because it’s so much better by comparison to the main roster programming that the whole roster will abandon Vince’s company for the developmental part of it. That was a long, f——up sentence that I’m too lazy to edit, but it is true. Tommaso Ciampa said he would retire before going to the main roster. That’s f——up too. Vince’ll only have three people left and it won’t be anyone that draws. So, let’s watch Nxt, the thing that will inject new life into the WWE and kill it at the same time. To think, I always thought Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling would be able to deal Vince the death blow.

I recently had a chance to sit down and talk very quickly to Vince Russo, the former head-writer for WWE back in the late 90’s during the infamous and beloved Attitude Era. He went on to work for WCW and Tna and has been a voice on YouTube and Podcasting in recent years. Controversial or not, Vince Russo left a mark on professional wrestling with his work and I want to thank him for spending a few minutes answering a few of my long-winded questions. The WWF’s Attitude Era is a beloved moment in time, and a moment that I was lucky to experience during my teenage years in the 90s. It was a time where wrestling was a smaller product and the WWE wasn’t the only circus in town. WCW was raging on with ratings often topping WWF and Ecw, smaller for sure, was making waves as an underground radical grungy wrestling movement that existed on the fringe and created a buzz for a good while. WWF, in the mid-90s, were struggling to find something to pull the fans back in and reinvent themselves, but once Steve Austin turned “Stone Cold” and became the biggest thing going, and other characters and wrestlers like The Rock and Dx began to shake the walls, WWF became a huge deal again. It was, for a time, cool to be a fan of pro-wrestling. People...

Vince McMahon's big idea is to mix up his talent on Raw and SmackDown ...
Vince McMahon is in a panic.
Ratings for Raw and SmackDown Live are dropping at a rapid rate. Reportedly, WWE's network partners are getting worried at the dropping viewership and the company begins a multi-billion dollar deal with Fox this fall. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
In the past, that's ushered in things like the Attitude Era, when WWE pushed the envelope on television thanks to stiff competition from Ted Turner's WCW. It resulted in a boom period for wrestling, with as many as six million people per week tuning in to USA Network on Monday night to catch WWE's flagship program, Monday Night Raw.
Today, that number has dipped under two million.
Now, television habits and ratings are much different today than they were 20 years ago. But there's no denying WWE's downward trend.

That ominous development proved to be a problem for the equally-talented-but-less-cohesive collective who opposed them on Raw: Braun Strowman, Kurt Angle & Intercontinental Champion Finn Bálor. True, Angle was muscling the clock backward by sheer force of will.

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have more from this version of Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling, which still feels like a cheap WWE knock-off despite the testimony of so many other people. Actually, this also feels like a cheap Extreme Championship Wrestling knock-off as well, so take that as you will. Then again, Impact gets very low ratings these days, so perhaps the compliments are more from the reviewers than anything else. It’s weird how the same people that complained about how bad Vince Russo and Hulk Hogan’s booking of Tna/Impact was are willing to praise Don Callis and Scott D’Amore for making the same mistakes. It’s like reading all of those reviews of Star Wars: The Last Jedi from critics and seeing them claim that there was a plot concocted by the...

Match #1: Braun Strowman & Ember Moon def. Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
The undefeated Monster Eclipse roared their way to their third WWE Mmc victory with a win over Mahalicia. Match highlights included Mahal trying to take Strowman head-on (an effort that ended poorly for the Modern Day Maharaja), Fox endlessly bouncing off the ropes without contact until she needed a water break, Moon taking out Fox inside and outside the ring, Fox grounding Moon in vicious fashion as she effectively cut the ring in half, Mahal suffering the wrath of Strowman, Moon wiping out both Singh Brothers outside the ring just moments before Strowman wrecked Mahal with a massive charge and Strowman stealing Fox’s...

Welcome to this review of Bound For Glory, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Impact Wrestling’s biggest card of the year to talk about, so let’s do so.
Rich Swann & Willie MacK Beat Ethan Page & Matt Sydal – Tag Team Match My Take: 4 out of 5
This was pretty damn cool. Page was the only one who could be called less than great here, but since he was quite good himself, I’d say this was great stuff. Mack is some-thing else and is finally getting his shot at Pay Per View, which he deserves. The stunts here were among the best of the year and the match itself was every-thing that Impact could ever need from an opener.
Eli Drake Beat James Ellsworth – Eli Drake’S Open Challenge My Take: .5 out of 5
This was as bad of a match as any that has ever appeared on PPV.

Match #1: Jake Strong beat Big Bad Steve, Aerostar, Pj Black, Hernandez, Dante Fox and King Cuerno – Battle Royale Match For #1 Contendership To The Gift of the Gods Title
My Take: 2 out of 5 - This was a squash that made the other wrestlers look weak, but made Strong look like an embodiment of his name. There isn’t much to say about all of this, other than I hate it when other athletes get ignored for one person. Strong doesn’t need to be put over other people like this and would have been better off being booked based off of his successes in the WWE. Strong could...

Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling was originally named Tits and Ass Wrestling. You might already know that but, for those of you who are still in the dark, Tna Wrestling was never meant to be any-thing more than a fun lark for Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo. Based on pushing the WWE’s Attitude Era to its limit, Tna was going to be chaos for the sake of chaos, with every ridiculous idea that would have been repressed any-where else be given the spot-light. How-ever, a call from the remnants of the once great National Wrestling Alliance changed the plans at the last minute, because the Nwa wanted to offer its title belts, especially the greatest and most important wrestling title in the sport’s history, the Nwa World Heavyweight Championship, for its roster to wrestle for. At that moment, Jeff Jarrett made a deal with the Nwa that would turn Vince Russo’s wet-dream into,...

Don’t start pre-ripping your red and yellow t-shirts just yet. As the head writer of WWE’s popular “Attitude Era,” Vince Russo wrote twisty storylines for superstars like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock. But now he’s in a feud with its own wild turns — one of which has cost him his relationship with PodcastOne, the network that until recently hosted his many shows packed with wrestling commentary. Russo said PodcastOne canceled his channel after wrestling blogger Ryan Satin accused Russo’s fans of threatening to kill his girlfriend when Russo and his “Castrating the Marks” co-host, Jeff Lane, mocked the couple. A “mark” in wrestle-speak is a fan who...

Not-so-friendly exes? Teen Mom 2 stars Javi Marroquin and Briana DeJesus were one of the show's most polarizing couples, but their relationship was short-lived. They dated briefly for about three months and their split was filled with drama — and even though Javi has already moved on with his ex Lauren Comeau, he was feeling some type of way about Bri after she opened up about their relationship on the Spilling the Teen Mom Tea podcast, and he threw subs at his ex-girlfriend on Twitter. "Lmaoooo [sic] yoooo I just listened to this sorry a-- podcast. Everything on there is a straight up lie," the 25-year-old wrote on Twitter. "You know, what let me stop right there. Not giving this wannabe Howard Stern and Lady Gaga wannabe any more attention." Lmaoooo yoooo I just listened to this sorry ass podcast.

He ain't the sharpest tool in the shed! Jenelle Evans' ex-fiancée and baby daddy Nathan Griffith finally revealed the real reason he got arrested in February, and it's humiliating to say the least! We already knew that the Teen Mom 2 star was charged with a traffic violation for "striking fixtures on or adjacent to highway — failure to report." What we didn't know was that the "fixture" was a gas pump nozzle that he forgot to take out of his car before driving away! His girlfriend Ashley Lanhardt joined him for an interview with Vince Russo, and spilled the beans on the situation. However, Nathan insists it wasn't his fault. He says he met a guy in the convenience store while filling up who tricked him into driving off with the nozzle in his car. "I don’t know if the guy was homeless or worked there or not,” he explained.

World Championship Wrestling may have been consigned to history, but there’s still a lot of strong feeling for the once-proud promotion. Today, a lot of older pro wrestling fans look back on what the company achieved and realise there was a lot to enjoy under the WCW banner. Tag-team wrestling was most certainly one of those aspects, it was something WCW routinely treated with great respect.
Naturally, during the Vince Russo era of booking in the late-1990’s there were periods when the WCW Tag-Team Titles were thrown around from team to team without any real regard for credibility. Things weren’t always that way though, there were times when the championships were viewed as entirely credible.
Once known as the Nwa, the WCW name really came to prominence in 1988, as Ted Turner looked to forge his own path. WCW was still affiliated with the Nwa, but...

WWE were on a serious roll in 2000. The inconsistent Vince Russo was out of the picture, WCW were getting weaker as the weeks and months went by, The Rock, Triple H and others were coming into their own as main event stars and the midcard was as exciting as it had ever been.
Everything was clicking and it seemed as though the product offered the best of both worlds: you still had the outlandish, Ott characters and storylines from the Attitude Era, but mixed in with that was some damn fine wrestling courtesy of the likes of The Radicalz, Chris Jericho, The Hardy Boys, Edge & Christian, Kurt Angle and so on.
Looking back, it’s really no surprise that the company were doing such good business, with critically well-received shows doing huge ratings and PPVs doing very healthy buyrates. You’d think that, given the momentum the company had at the time,...

In the long ago late ‘90’s, in the faraway land of Stamford, Connecticut, Vince McMahon, his awful kids and Vince Russo, created some of wrestling’s most bizarre and flat-out insane storylines. Since that Attitude Era heyday, the company has made a ruthlessly aggressive effort to clean up its act.
Whether the change came because of Linda McMahon’s Senatorial run or just a natural evolution to attract new audiences, WWE is now solidly PG programming. Turn on Raw and you’ll see superstars blowing up at each other over things like… popcorn. Hey, at least they stopped making those “Marine” movies, right?
But, adult WWE fans were raised on Mae Young giving birth to a hand and Hhh screwing a mannequin in a coffin, they miss insanity. Kooky, crazy or even controversial storylines would raise the emotional stakes and keep things unpredictable.

So, as you might have noticed, I've missed a couple of weeks. True to form, since I mentioned my on-again/off-again love/hate relationship with pro wrestling in my first column, I couldn't even work up enough inspiration to follow up my initial column on the subject. I was going to write about it every Wednesday night throughout the Road to WrestleMania, and my interest wasn't even sustained long enough to make it to Week 2.
Until tonight...
I caught some of last night's WWE Fastlane pay-per-view, and I had some interest in how Raw would follow things up. Still, I was just going to wait until my wife went to sleep (we're currently watching HBO's The Wire. Yes, I know. We're very, very behind), then skim through Raw on my DVR. But then I suddenly got a series of texts from one of my best friends that made me have...
