There’s no more Blood & Treasure, just blood. The action-adventure Paramount+ series has gotten the axe and will not return for a Season 3, according to TVLine. The news of Blood & Treasure‘s cancelation comes over four months after the Season 2 finale on the streamer, which picked it up from CBS once the network dropped the show after the first season. Created by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia and starring Matt Barr and Sofia Pernas, Blood & Treasure debuted on CBS in May 2019, with a second season greenlit midway through its initial run. Although it maintained solid ratings, the pandemic slowed down production for its follow-up season, which didn’t wrap until mid-December 2020. On the third anniversary of its series premiere, a release date for the second season was announced. The globe-trotting action-adventure drama follows a brilliant antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to catch...

Now that Blood & Treasure Season 2 is finally seeing the light of day, streaming new episodes every Sunday on Paramount+, fans are wondering how vested — if at all — they should be in sharing even more adventures with Danny and Lexi.
“At Blood & Treasure, we have a kind of ‘never say never’ and ‘never say die’ [attitude],” series co-creator Matthew Federman told TVLine when asked about the prospects for a Season 3. “It’s like, who knows? If the numbers are really good, we could always bring the band back together. We have a ton of stories we can tell in this world.

Blood & Treasure Season 2 will finally see the light of day.
As previously reported, Paramount+ will air the long-delayed second season, beginning Sunday, July 17th with two episodes.
Subsequent episodes will drop weekly on Sundays.
The decision means that viewers who watched on CBS will no longer be able to keep up to speed unless they watch on the streaming service.
The move to streaming worked for both Seal Team and Evil, with both shows scoring renewals following their launch on the streaming service.
It's unclear whether the long wait between seasons will affect the negotiations for a third season.
It's hard to believe any of the cast is still under contract, so it might be difficult to get everyone back together.

Few things in the TV industry are predictable anymore, but the cornerstone of the breezy summer procedural stands strong.
This season of global misadventures and banter thick with sexual tension kicks off with “Blood & Treasure,” a new CBS drama about renegades trying to track down priceless artifacts and a notorious terrorist. Danny MacNamara (Matt Barr) is an art enthusiast who’s referred to by his full name more often than not. Lexi (Sofia Pernas) is a fugitive for hire with trust issues and a wicked left hook, who just so happens to also be Danny’s ex-girlfriend. After their foe raids and blows up the tomb of Antony and Cleopatra — yes, that Antony and Cleopatra — Danny calls upon Lexi’s expertise to help him get to the bottom of how and why.

Despite much of the network’s airtime being devoted to procedurals, CBS has developed a recent tradition of devoting its summer programming slots to more out-there genre programming — shows that might defy expectations and represent more bonkers storytelling.
This year, look to “Blood and Treasure” as the latest show to follow in this tradition. A modern-day action thriller with touches of “Indiana Jones” and “National Treasure,” creators Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia deliver an odd couple globe-trotting adventure about an antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to take down a notorious thief/terrorist (played by “The Mummy’s” Oded Fehr.)

From Assassin’s Creed to The Witcher, via Mass Effect, Minecraft and maybe more Warcraft...
Latest update: Uncharted delayed.
In the years since Den Of Geek first sprung into existence, we’ve consistently kept an eye on the videogames that have been touted for the big screen treatment. We’ve tried to list them all in a big article a few times before, and it feels like the time has come to pull a new version together.
If we haven’t heard anything about a certain videogame movie in two years or more, it seems safe to assume that it’s quietly been binned. That’s why you won’t find the likes of BioShock, Devil May Cry, Far Cry, Gears Of War, Halo, Heavy Rain and Rollercoaster Tycoon on this list. If we get proven wrong on any of those, we’ll update this article as more information comes to light.

A screen adaptation of this popular graphic novel has been "in the works" since, at least, 2008; although little progress has been made since then. Last we wrote about it, 2+ years ago, it was announced that New Line Cinema had made the project one of its "first priorities." Further, New Line was said to have been "very pleased" with a draft of the script from Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia (both former "Jericho" writers), and the hunt had begun for a director. Not long after that, a director was hired for the job: Dan Trachtenberg, primarily a director of commercials, who apparently has geek-cred, previously making...

We have a look at some of the more obscure comic book movie ideas which nearly made it to the big screen…
We've recently been investigating the pile of nearly-made-its in the ever-growing world of cinematic comic book adaptations. You could be forgiven for thinking Hollywood will strap wads of cash to any old comic book writer who stumbles past their door, but so far we’ve written approximately 5,000 words that say otherwise.
First, we delved into DC’s chequered past and found heaps of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman projects that we’ll sadly never get to see (and some other projects we’re quite glad we’ll never have to sit through). We then did the same for Marvel, unearthing plans for a Paul McCartney Silver Surfer rock opera, James Cameron’s bizarre Spider-Man script ideas and an amazingly-cast Dazzler animation from the 1980s.

Plot details, character info and more has arrived for the cancelled Star Wars series…
News
In the world of science-fiction telly, a cancelled series to rally behind is nothing new. But this one is a bit different, not least because it was effectively cancelled before it had even begun.
New information about George Lucas and Rick McCallum’s long-planned Star Wars: Underworld live action series, which never filmed an episode and has seemingly been dropped (at least for now) in the Disney takeover, suggests it may well have been a real treat for fans.
Stephen Scaia, a writer for the doomed series, recently dropped some big hints about the show on a Kickstarter page for his current Indiana Jones project. ‘How Han met Chewie’ is one of the biggest teases, as well as a potential Boba Fett action sequence and 'Lando losing the Millennium Falcon' being mentioned as potential plot points.

Perhaps you've heard of something called Star Wars Underworld. This was meant to be LucasFilms' foray into Star Wars TV, giving the audience a weekly trip to a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. The plans were scuttled as soon as everyone realized that it was crazy expensive to do Star Wars weekly on a budget, but the plans survived, and were one particular element that intrigued Disney upon their purchase of LucasFilms. And now, they might be pilfering from that unused material for one of their standalone movies. SlashFilm did some digging, uncovering the Kickstarter for something called Army Of The Lost Horizon, a movie tied to the legacy of Indiana Jones. That project is being spearheaded by Stephen Scaia, who apparently was a writer on Star Wars Underworld (though he oddly cannot get Disney funding for a Disney-owned project). And Scaia claims that most of...

When Disney acquired Lucasfilm, it also purchased the rights to hundreds of unmade scripts and outlines that were once to be a live-action television show typically known as Star Wars: Underworld. Within those scripts, we now here that there was a lot of work on the Han Solo backstory.
The info comes to us courtesy of writer Stephen Scaia, who was involved with the scripts for Star Wars: Underworld and is now part of a Kickstarter campaign aimed at launching at least one episode of an Indiana Jones spin-off series. Scaia revealed (via /Film) that a number of the stories in Star Wars: Underworld involved Han Solo’s origins, including his first meeting with Chewbacca and winning the Millennium Falcon from Lando.

From the Press Releases:

Syfy has just announced a whole bunch of new projects they have begun developing, the most high-profile being a potential miniseries based on Frank Miller's six-issue DC Comic series "Ronin". A search is under way for a writer, and the number of episodes is undetermined at this point.
The story centers on a dishonored, masterless 13th century samurai who awakens in a futuristic, nihilistic 21st century New York where he must defeat an ancient demon who is the reincarnation of his master's killer.
Syfy is also developing "Letter 44," a series based on the political space drama comic which Jonathan Mostow ("Terminator 3") will write, executive produce and direct the pilot for.
The story revolves around a new U.S. President who learns, via a letter from his predecessor, that Nasa discovered an alien construction project in the asteroid belt seven years ago. A crew of heroic astronauts have been sent...

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is moving forward with a planned reboot of the “Zorro” franchise based on the 2005 Isabel Allende novel, which centers on the young Zorro who witnesses the brutal injustices dealt to Native Americans.
Screenwriter Chris Boal, brother of Mark Boal (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Hurt Locker”), has come onboard to rewrite a draft previously penned by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia. Boal was a competitive fencer on the national circuit before becoming a writer.
This new project will have nothing to do with the Antonio Banderas films The Mask of Zorro and The Legend of Zorro but will have a sort of “Batman Begins” style of approach, with a new backstory, gritty realism and emotional core. Chris Boal, a playwright who's turning his hand to screenwriting, has been hired to take over a previous draft of the new Zorro film. A script has already been written by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, and it's unclear whether Boal will be starting afresh, or working with the earlier draft.
We do know that the earlier script was based on a mock biography of Zorro, that was written be Isabel Allende.

Sony Pictures is moving forward with a planned reboot of the "Zorro" franchise based on Chilean author Isabel Allende's 2005 novel.
Fencer-turned-screenwriter Chris Boal, brother of Mark Boal ("Zero Dark Thirty," "The Hurt Locker"), has come onboard to rewrite a draft previously penned by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia.
The Zorro character first appeared in Johnston McCulley's 1919 novella "The Curse of Capistrano", Allende's work is an origin tale and prequel to the events of that story, and contains numerous references to other famous Zorro works including 1998's "The Mask of Zorro".
Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes are set to produce the film which aims to bring a "Batman Begins" style approach to the character with a new backstory, gritty realism and emotional elements.
The project is not to be confused with Fox's rival sci-fi take "Zorro Reborn" which puts the character in a "Mad Max"-esque apocalyptic wasteland.

Comics author Brian K. Vaughn says that the film rights to his acclaimed graphic novel series "Y: The Last Man" could soon revert to himself and co-creator Pia Guerra.
A film adaptation of the comic has been in the works for over a decade with numerous writers and directors attached at one point or another. Dan Trachtenberg was linked as a potential helmer last year.
Vaughn tells Comic Book Resources: "It's my understanding that the rights to 'Y: The Last Man' will revert back to co-creator Pia Guerra and me for the first time in a decade if the planned New Line adaptation doesn't start shooting in the next few months. So I expect there will be some 'Y' news in 2014 either way."

Ubisoft and producer Michael Bay have hired a couple of screenwriters to take a crack at the script for the big screen adaptation of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. The writers they hired are Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, who also worked on the feature film adaptation of Y: The Last Man.
The games revolve around "a fictional unit of the U.S. Army Special Forces that essentially operates as the President’s private army, using the latest technology to infiltrate and take down threats around the world without leaving any traces behind that they exist."
There's a chance that Bay could end up directing this film, which I would actually love to see. I think he is a solid choice to adapt this game. If I got to chose any director to take it on, though, I think James Cameron would be perfect. But in the end, I think...

Creeping stealthily towards a jump-off date is Warner Bros. and Michael Bay's adaptation of the Tom Clancy-inspired game Ghost Recon. Variety reports that two screenwriters are now signed on to transform the first-person shooter into something screen-ready. Smearing themselves in camo makeup and dusting off their Get Some Guide To Special Forces Jargon are Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia. The pair are probably best known for their work on TV shows Jericho and Human Target, but they've recently added some major Hollywood assignments to their collective résumé. Tricky ones, too, like 20th Century Fox's Zorro, currently in a holding pattern, and Y: The Last Man, now reportedly back in business with Dan Trachtenberg at the helm. For those unfamiliar with the fictional Recon team, they’re a unit of the Army Special Forces that basically acts as the President’s personal strike team, taking out threats with all the latest weapons and gadgets.
