- Tony Schweikle was born in Chicago. His mother was a first generation Italian, his father a third generation of German decent. He finished two years of graphic arts at Lake County College IL before he dropped out. Tony Schweikle's first job was for Roger Corman, as a location coordinator on the film Avalanche. He then worked as a location scout, followed by location manager. In 1988, he finished prepping the Colorado/New Mexico portion of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. He then accepted the position of assistant film commissioner for the state of Colorado. Five years later and burned out with government work, he resigned and hoped to re-enter film production, but quickly found out that he was out of the loop. In 2009, he re-invented himself and started writing feature length scripts, to date he has completed 9. One of his scripts, Hybrids, was produced in November of 2013, starring Paul Sorvino and Carolyn Hennesy. Completed and in distribution. The trailer can be seen on Amazon. - At age 22, Schweikle began his study of the "Old West." He began reading everything he could find, including periodicals like "True West," Frontier Times" and "Old West." In 1972 he re-located to Durango Colorado. At that time, Durango was still a rip-roaring old west town. His interest in photography led him into the mountains searching for "Old Timers" to photograph. He met and became friends with men and women, some as old as 80. He spent a winter isolated in the old mining town of Silverton Colorado where he socialized with, partied with and listened to the stories they loved to tell. Many of them were alive, circa 1907, and had wild tails to tell that they witnessed or were told to them.
His first movie job, in 1976, was on a Roger Corman film as the still photographer. After that wrapped he began getting call s a location scout. Because he lived in the famous "Four Corners Area" of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado, most of the jobs were for period westerns and several old west themed commercials. He worked on films using the Durango to Silverton narrow gauge railroad and the Cumbres Toltec narrow gauge train that ran from Antonito Colorado to Chama New Mexico. Those jobs included "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" as locations, and "Where the Hell's that Gold" Location Manager and "The Claim." as UPM.
Currently, 2020 he is preparing a western film using all of the above experience, based on his award winning screenplay "Bastard."- IMDb Mini Biography By: Phyllis G. Alden - More Trivia: While working on the western "Tracker" starring Kris Kristofferson, I had the pleasure of taking ½ a day off to play golf at Tamarron Resort with Kris and a couple other cast & crew. On another western, "Where the Hells that Gold" started a friendship with Willie Nelson by introducing him to one of his football heroes Kenny Stabler, "The Snake." This was in his motorhome via cell phone. You can find photos of me, Willie and Jack Elam, who I directed in the documentary "Travel the Movie Trail." Never worked with Keith Carradine, but became friends when I produced, along with Harry Carey Jr. The Durango Western Movie Society event featuring Keith and his two brothers David and Bobby Carradine.- IMDb Mini Biography By: H.A.
