American Bluegrass legend and Grammy winner (1969) Earl Scruggs - who wrote the classic TV series The Beverly Hillbillies theme music - has died. He was 88 years-old. The North Carolina Scruggs was a pickin' genius, mastering the three-finger method dubbed the "Scruggs style," who played and toured with his band from his teens until recent years. He received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2008. Scruggs wrote and recorded "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" with Lester Flatt and singer Jerry Scoggins.
