- Husband Rube Marquard was a well-known baseball pitcher.
- Famous American vaudevillian and nightclub entertainer, jazz and ragtime singer, tagged the "Queen of Syncopation". Her biggest hits included "Way Down Yonder in New Orleans", "Rose Room", "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" and her signature song, "Toddling the Todalo".
- Her third marriage to Benny Fields was the subject of the 1952 Paramount musical Somebody Loves Me (1952), in which they were portrayed by Betty Hutton and Ralph Meeker. It was Hutton's final film for the studio.
- Her second marriage to Baseball Hall of Fame member Rube Marquard, with whom she sometimes performed in vaudeville, was the subject of a 1996 book, "Marquard and Seeley" by Noel Hynd.
