Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch Season 19 continues on with fan-favorite cast members like Sig Hansen, Sean Dwyer, and “Wild” Bill Wichrowski. The show features the dangers of fishing in the Bering Sea — but it seems there are also dangers on land. An associate producer of the show died via gunshot wounds. Here’s what to know about the strange Deadliest Catch death that didn’t occur on a boat.
‘Deadliest Catch’ associate producer Joe McMahon died from gunshot wounds
Fans know of several Deadliest Catch deaths that occurred through the years, but the death of Joe McMahon remains mysterious. McMahon was an associate producer with the show when he died. He was reportedly shot and killed outside of his Pasadena, California, home, at just 24 years old.
The police responded to a call regarding possible gunshots at 2:19 a.m. in July 2015. Police arrived to find McMahon on the street with several gunshot wounds.

American Doctor Who. It’s wrong, isn’t it? Like a French James Bond movie, or a feel-good episode of EastEnders. And the 1996 Paul McGann TV Movie—with its wrong-headed, continuity-mired narrative priorities and determination to be generic action fodder—is hardly an encouraging precedent.
Is it really though? What about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The X-Files, Frasier, Community—all American-accented, but British-influenced? The Office has proved the British flavour needn’t be lost in an American setting. And most recently, Elementary has surprised everyone by being quite distinct from Sherlock, and quite good. And for all the terrible scripting decisions, Who TV movie writer Matthew Jacobs, executive producer Philip Segal and the fifty suits from Fox and BBC Worldwide gave us a brilliant Doctor in McGann—who owned the role with just 50 minutes of screen time, and that many of us would like to see back in action.

This is a big weekend for Whovians in the U.S with the Gallifrey One convention (#gally) taking place in La.
In it’s 23rd year this convention is pretty much as official as it gets ‘across the pond’ (no Pond intended) and has seen a huge swell of interest thanks to the intense promotional work and focus on American Who fandom since we first saw The Impossible Astronaut in 2011.
While not an “official” convention like the one to be held in Cardiff in late March, this one is crammed with guests that will interest both classic and current series fans (thought not Matt Smith and Karen Gillan as they are the primary focus of the official convention). Firstly, the day is being billed as a 1996 TV movie reunion with 8th Doctor Paul McGann reunited with Daphne Ashbrook, Yee Jee Tso, Eric Roberts and producer Philip Segal.
I wear a Fez now.

Doctor Who was unceremoniously cancelled by the BBC in 1989. That didn.t deter fan Philip David Segal who lobbied for a BBC/American co-production for a new television show. That never came to fruition, but a television movie happened and perhaps that kept the show alive enough for it to be revived in 2005. The Master is apparently exterminated by the Daleks on Skaro, and the Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) agrees to take his remains, as per his last request, back to Gallifrey in the Tardis. The Master is not really dead, however, but has transformed into a shapeless snakelike creature. He causes the Tardis to make an emergency landing on Earth, in the city of San Francisco, in the...

When I tweeted that I was watching Doctor Who the Movie, it provoked a spirited debate over the film’s merits. Apparently, the Paul McGann incarnation of the Doctor is beloved by many but far from all. Truth be told, I am a latecomer to the cult of The Doctor, arriving during the new series of adventures. I certainly know the history and previous incarnations but had never developed a taste for it. So, coming to his American telefilm from 1996 after the current era, gives me an unqiue perspective.
When Fox ordered the pilot film for a hoped-for series, they received the official blessing of the BBC plus the cameo participation of Sylvester McCoy, who was the previous incarnation when the series was finally canceled in 1989.
As discovered on the very detailed documentary accompanying the movie, the film took years to finally get made. And here’s the problem. While...

"Doctor Who" is the longest running science fiction show in the world. The British show ran for 26 seasons from 1963 until it got cancelled in 1989. The Doctor, a time travelling alien (a Time Lord) from the planet Gallifrey, travels though space and time, experiencing adventures and righting wrongs all over the Universe (but strangely seems to spend most of the time in his televised adventures on Earth). His time machine/space ship looks like a 1950s blue police box, and is quite a lot bigger on the inside than on the outside. He has had a variety of companions through the years, mostly humanoid, although the majority seem to be young women of varying degrees of hotness.
When the Doctor dies, he regenerates into a new body. This means that when the first actor playing the Doctor needed to be replaced, they were able to keep the show going without any major changes.

Discovery Channel is set to unveil a sweeping new programming slate that includes a brand-expanding series about infomercial pitchmen and a rare venture into scripted programming with a two-hour movie inspired by the success of "Deadliest Catch."
The network has greenlighted at least seven new projects, including several from top docudrama creators Thom Beers and Craig Piligian, as part of an effort to continue increasing its number of original programming hours.
First is "But Wait ... There's More" from executive producer Beers, which follows longform ad salesmen Billy Mays and Anthony "Sully" Sullivan as they evaluate quirky new products, craft pitches and take to the airwaves to push the goods.
The entrepreneurial advertising-age setting marks a departure for Discovery and Beers, the latter best known for his gritty, naturalistic series such as the network's top-rated "Deadliest" and History's "Ice Road Truckers." Discovery has ordered 13 episodes of the show and plans to premiere it in the spring.

A&E is getting back into business with writer-producer Charles Murray after their recent collaboration on the drama pilot "Under," developing a new project centering on a city commissioner.
"The Lost Son" is part of a two-script deal that Murray has inked with ABC Studios. The other script is a blind commitment.
"Son," from ABC Studios and Thom Beers' Original Prods., is an "Upstairs/Downstairs" look at the inner workings of a city commissioner's office and how his actions directly affect street crime in each police precinct. The project centers on a cop who suddenly jumps 15 levels to become the new commissioner of a large city but continues doing police work at night. He also continues to investigate his mother's murder.
Murray is writing and executive producing; Beer and Original's Philip Segal are nonwriting exec producers.

Spike TV wants to explore more "Ways to Die" with Thom Beers.
The cable network has ordered 10 half-hour episodes of "1000 Ways to Die," a series from the prolific producer that delves into bizarre ways people get themselves killed.
The series order follows the strong ratings for the two-part "1000 Ways" special, whose premiere in May drew 1 million viewers.
In tongue-in-cheek fashion, "1000 Ways," which launches in the fall, showcases outrageous true-life endings -- like death from eating a jalapeno pepper -- through re-enactments interlaced with dramatic witness testimonials, historical tidbits, scientific explanations and CGI effects.
"Everyone is fascinated with death and wants to know how and why," said Sharon Levy, Spike TV senior vp original series. "We got the tone of it immediately and felt it was a no-brainer for the channel."
Beers, who executive produces the series with Philip Segal, called "1000 Ways" one of his passion projcts. "It's Darwinism meets 'CSI,' " he said. "It's the science of stupid death."
Beers, whose series credits include "Deadliest Catch" and "Ice Road Truckers," stressed that the series won't feature people dying of natural causes or at war but only "dumb deaths that result from putting yourself in a dumb situation. They are self-inflicted through stupidity."
The series will be shot like a horror film. "It will have more of graphic novel look almost," he said, "like gothic tales of horror."...
