- Matyas Seiber was born on May 4, 1905 in Budapest, Hungary. He was a composer, known for The Diamond Wizard (1954), The Fake (1953) and Chase a Crooked Shadow (1958). He was married to Lilla Bauer. He died on September 24, 1960 in South Africa.

- Hungarian-born composer. Studied under Zoltan Kodaly at the Budapest Academy, but began his career abroad, initially as cellist, conductor and music journalist. He taught the first ever academic course in jazz at the Frankfurt Conservatoire from 1928 to 1933. After the Nazi takeover in Germany, Seiber moved to Britain where he remained for the rest of his life, active as composer, conductor and teacher. In the 1950's, he composed some film music, especially for cartoons and short subjects, best known among the former being Animal Farm (1954).
