Drummer Floyd Sneed was born on November 22, 1943 in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada. He has a sister named Maxine Sneed and a brother named Bernie
Sneed. His parents were both musicians at their local church. Floyd
originally planned on being a soccer player, but ultimately decided to
become a drummer, instead (his first drum kit was a gift from his
sister, Maxine). The first group Sneed was a member of was the "Tommy
Chong Band", with actor/musician Tommy Chong
of Cheech & Chong fame. In 1966, Floyd
formed his own group called "Heat Wave" and moved to Los Angeles,
California. In 1968, Sneed joined the hugely popular 70s rock band,
Three Dog Night; he remained a member of
Three Dog Night until the group broke up
in 1977. He continued to perform with other groups, that include the
"Ohio Players" and was a member of the short-lived band, "S.S. Fools".
Floyd has a bit part as a drummer in the comedy feature,
Far Out Man (1990). He continues to
play the drums as a member of the group, "Dog + Katt". Moreover, Sneed
is also a successful artist whose paintings have been shown in
galleries in both Canada and America, alike.
