Sterling K. Brown and the cast of “The Blackening” have been added to the lineup at CultureCon Los Angeles 2023. The festival kicks off on Saturday, June 17 at Rolling Greens Mateo, making it the first-ever full CultureCon summit to take place in L.A.
The festival is presented by Max and will be hosted by comedian Jay Pharoah and Emmy-winning journalist Francesca Amiker. Also slated to appear is singer-songwriter Victoria Monét, rapper Lakeyah and “The Blackening” director Tim Story and stars Dewayne Perkins and X Mayo, who’ll discuss the horror-comedy with Pharoah.
Festival partners Cîroc, Sephora, My Black is Beautiful, Prime Video, McDonald’s, Coca Cola and others will be hosting panels and activities for festival goers. In addition, CultureCon will be filled with skill-building workshops, activations and numerous Black-owned small businesses to shop from.

Academy Award Winner Brendan Fraser will be the honoree of the Inspiration Award at this year’s inaugural Greenwich International Film Festival (Giff) held on Wednesday, May 3.
The Inspiration Talk & Award Ceremony will benefit the non-profit organization Abilis, an entity committed to providing services and support for individuals with special needs and their families throughout the duration of their lives.
The Giff Inspiration Award is allotted to an artist whose philanthropic work inspires others. Fraser will be honored with the award at The Village, 4 Star Point, in Stamford, C.T. on Wednesday, May 3.

This first-ever Greenwich International Film Festival (Giff) is coming next June and will showcase over 25 films, world premieres, parties and an award ceremony. Created by Carina Crain, Colleen deVeer, and Wendy Stapleton Reyes, the Connecticut festival will use its downtown areas to show the best in film. Although the lineup has yet to be announced, Giff will have exciting events that will take place throughout the year, including a screening of Emily Wachtel’s comedy film "Lucky Them," directed by Megan Griffiths. A Q&A with the filmmakers will be held on June 16th at Avon Theatre in Stamford, Ct. “The possibilities for the Greenwich International Film Festival are limitless," said Founders Carina Crain, Colleen deVeer and Wendy Stapleton Reyes.
