Born at mid-century in mid-Wisconsin, Carl has been sculpting since the mid-fifties. After early forays into physics and film, Carl began his professional career in 1978 with a claymation entitled "At the Movies. At the Movies won over a dozen national and international awards including First Prize " Animation, and Third Prize " Direction at the ASIFA East International Animation Awards. "At the Movies" landed him a job with a California production company. Nine months later a freelance-sculpting contract started his career as a professional sculptor. He has done numerous projects for Disney Studios, Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Danbury Mint, Enesco, Bradford Exchange, Mattel, McDonalds, Sea World, Viacom and dozens of others. Many projects involved the hiring and supervision of as many as a dozen highly skilled artisans. His sculptures include King Kong at Universal Studios Tours in California and Florida as well as numerous sculptures of such notables as Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jordan, Mark McGuire, Spock and dozens more. He has sculpted Snow White, Cinderella, Bugs Bunny, and more than a hundred other cartoon characters. Starting in 2002 he put all his experience and wry sense of humor to the task of producing a series of dinosaur impressions, which he continues to sculpt in the quiet environment of his lakeside home in northern Wisconsin near where he spent his childhood summers. In late 2002, Carl began a manufacturing company to produce aluminum boat docks based on his own invention, an endeavor that keeps him grounded and humbled. Carl enjoys flying, running, writing and designing pyrotechnic displays. He has one sixteen-year-old daughter (who, oddly, wants to be an artist).
