- Nephew of producer and director Nasir Hussain, who introduced him in his hit film Procession of Memories (1973) and then repeated him in his next hit film Hum Kisise Kum Naheen (1977), for which he earned a Filmfare nomination as Best Supporting Actor. After this however his career declined and he only acted in a handful of other films in the 1980s before making his last film appearance in Mera Damad (1995).

- [In 2013, when asked why he quit acting in films] Honestly, it was the fear of insecurity that led me to seek a secure office job with assured monthly income. Also, I felt I had reached a point of career stagnation where I had to opt for a vocational shift. So I completed a specialised diploma course in travel ticketing and cargo forwarding.
