It’s official — CBS is not picking up a third season of Superior Donuts, its multi-camera workplace comedy starring Jermaine Fowler and Judd Hirsch.
After a decent ratings start last spring, goosed by a plum lead-in from The Big Bang Theory, Superior Donuts was renewed for a second season with some casting changes, including the addition of Diane Guerrero, and got a full-season Season 2 pickup last fall.
CBS had been looking to make changes on Monday where the network was once the dominant force with hit comedies and CSI: Miami at 10 Pm. CBS’ fortunes on the night have declined over the past couple of years, hitting a low point this season. Superior Donuts was the lowest rated of the three returning CBS series on Monday which were in a renewal contention, averaging a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating (most recent)
While the cast of the sitcom has been well received, the show didn’t quite gel together.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
The king of the networks easily remains in charge despite "Elementary" being their only fresh hit of last season's new shows. The network's line-up remains fairly stable with only a few key moves such as Thursday being expanded to include two hours of comedy programming, and "Hawaii Five-0" moving to Fridays.
Several other pilots didn't make the cut this week including the series sequel to the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies, a TV version of the comedy "Bad Teacher", the "NCIS" mobile spin-off "NCIS: Red," a procedural based on Leif G.W. Persson's literary homicide detective Everett Backstrom, the Frank Marshall-produced political thriller "The Ordained" about a priest turned lawyer trying to save his sister from assassination,...

Chicago – When you’re the #1 network on TV, it must be tempting to stay the course. However, CBS always shakes things up a bit and this year is no different. The 2013-14 schedule, announced this morning, features four new comedies (including a new comedy block in one of their most successful time slots) and one drama, along with new time slots for big hits “Person of Interest,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “Hawaii Five-0.” The five new shows feature a stunning degree of star power with lead roles taken by Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Margo Martindale, Tony Shalhoub, Toni Collette, Will Arnett, Tate Donovan, Allison Janney, and more. It must be nice to be #1.

Gellar's character is being described as pretty, intense, driven, organized and burdened with being practical. She's the creative director and Roberts Advertising Agency's life and soul. Although she wants to be like her father, she's too busy playing parent to him. Kelley also executive produces with Bill D'Elia, John Montgomery, Dean Lorey and Mark Teitelbaum. Jacqueline Obradors has nabbed the lead female role opposite Wesley Snipes in Nine Lives for Millennium Films. Shooting is scheduled to start April 13 in Bulgaria with David Carson at the helm. Obradors will be seen on screens nationwide Friday starring opposite Vin Diesel in New Line Cinema's A Man Apart. Nine Lives, described as a cross between Jacob's Ladder and The Bourne Identity, centers on a former Army Special Ops soldier (Snipes) who is mistaken for a government agent and gets injected with a hallucinogenic mind-control drug that allows others to alter his reality with simple suggestions. Finding himself on the run, he must search for the antidote while battling his foes, his inner demons and the illusions the drug allows his enemies to create. Obradors will play a police detective and wife of Snipes' character. Tom Vaughan penned the screenplay. Millennium's Avi Lerner and Brad Jenkel are producing along with Jim Wedaa and Tom Jacobson, with Bob Misiorowski executive producing. Millennium is fully financing the project. Obradors is repped by Writers & Artists Agency, Mark Teitelbaum at Teitelbaum Artists Group and attorney David Feldman. Her other credits include the indie film Tortilla Soup and the TV series NYPD Blue.
