- There is a biography book written on Walter by Ben Ohmart, using Walter's personal scrapbooks that his mother kept, including a notebook full of every radio credit and personal appearance he ever did as a child actor.
- Body cremated and remains were placed in an unmarked grave.
- In 1971, he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident and used a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
