Ahead of the film’s market premiere at Berlin’s European Film Market, Beta Cinema has announced first deals for “Operation Napoleon” to France (Mediawan), Spain (Twelve Oaks), Poland (Hagi Film), Former Yugoslavia (MegaCom), Japan (Tohokushinsha) and Taiwan (Av-Jet).
The English-language thriller is based on the eponymous best-selling novel by Icelandic crime author Arnaldur Indriðason and stars Icelandic newcomer Vivian Ólafsdóttir (“It Hatched”) and Iain Glen, best known for his role as Dr. Alexander Isaacs in the “Resident Evil” film series and as Ser Jorah Mormont in “Game of Thrones.”

Exclusive: Global Screen has acquired international sales rights to the animated feature Niko – Beyond The Northern Lights, the third instalment of the popular children’s classic about a flying reindeer, and released a first image of the rebooted character.
The new feature comes more than a decade after the first two films in the franchise Niko & The Way To The Stars (2009) and Niko – Little Brother, Big Trouble (2012) proved hits with audiences worldwide.
The first film garnered more than 750,000 admissions in Germany alone and both titles sold to 120 territories.

Icelandic production powerhouse Sagafilm and Germany’s Splendid Film are teaming on the major feature project “Operation Napoleon,” to be lensed mostly in English.
Budgeted at around €6 million ($7.2 million), the thriller is based on the eponymous best-selling novel by Iceland’s crime master Arnaldur Indriðason, whose earlier novel “Jar City” was successfully filmed by Baltasar Kormákur.
Published locally in 2009 and translated into English in 2011, “Operation Napoleon” was awarded a Crime Dagger by the Crime Writers’ Association.

Magma Productions' 'Jack Taylor' is back on TV3 with the first episode airing Thursday September 1st. Directed by Stuart Orme (Merlin), the 4x45 minute series follows private Investigator Jack Taylor (Iain Glen) and his enthusiastic sidekick, Cody (Killian Scott). Written by Marteinn Thorisson (Niko and the Way to the Stars) and based on Ken Bruen Novels 'The Magdalene Martyrs' and 'The Dramatist', the series follows Jack as he returns to Galway, clean and sober, and resolves to stay away from violence. But he is drawn back in when a dead man's mother approaches him seeking help.

Niko and the Way To The Stars,' the animated feature film co-produced by Magma Films in Galway and Anima Vitae in Finland, has won the Best Film and Best Script “Jussi” awards at the Finnish Film Awards in Helsinki. Galway based writer Marteinn Thorisson who wrote the screen play has been living and working in Galway for 12 years and has written on several international animation series and two other feature films produced by Magma. The awards are two of the most prestigious in the award categories and are all the more noteworthy as it is the first time a family genre animated feature has received these top awards which are normally the domain of live action films.
