With reports of a Horrible Histories feature film in development, we salute the genius songs of a magnificent show...
Ah, Horrible Histories. The show that brings all the slapstick humour and wordplay of Blackadder and Monty Python to a young audience. It’s a rare and marvellously British televisual feast (points for citing the reference, there): a bunch of hugely talented actors charging around in historical outfits, singing songs and starring in genius pop culture-inspired spoofs to deliver the darker side of history to school children.

Louis Walsh had some bolts on his neck. Mel B and Cheryl growled at the camera, and Simon Cowell attempted to move his latest round of Botox by raising his eyebrows. Yes, it was a truly horrifying Halloween edition of The X Factor - although perhaps not for the right reasons.
A large amount of the 'Fright Night' special was spent building up the tension about a spooky, scary twist. It was hard to get too excited about the "shocking" twist for two reasons.
1. We were all told about it on Friday. It was on the front page of The Sun, for heaven's sake.
2. The twist was a person being eliminated. This Happens Every Week. It's not even remotely exciting.
After a decade on air, every possible twist and alteration to the mechanism of voting off singers week by week has been and gone. So it's probably about...

It's Fright Night on The X Factor this week and boy, wouldn't you know it! Not only are the acts all singing 'Fright Night'-themed songs (or, well, they're supposed to be) but one of them will be booted out before the night is out after Simon Cowell got fed up with them all for not trying hard enough. If that's not all scary enough, The Script will be popping along to perform.
So join us when the show starts at 8pm as we find out who gives us thrills and who gives us chills. And, of course, who's having a right nightmare and will have to leave the competition...

Says writer Chris Bunting:
It’s every writer’s dream to write such a famous, or should I say, infamous character as Dick Turpin. His multi-layered, unpredictable nature makes for great drama. Expect some startling revelations about the life of this legendary lawbreaker. Turpin lived at a time when England was more like the Wild West, and criminals faced the death penalty at the gallows. Highwaymen led a very exciting life but often a very short one. This 18th Century swashbuckling firebrand was born to be a 21st Century complex comic book character. Dick Turpin’s return is a case of perfect timing.

Pirates Of The Caribbean star MacKenzie Crook is hoping to play legendary British highwayman Dick Turpin in a self-penned movie.
Turpin, a notorious thief and murderer in the 18th century, has been romanticised through his appearances in English literature and film projects, but Crook is desperate to reveal his darker side.
The actor has started to write his own screenplay for a big screen biopic, and wants to play Turpin himself.
He tells Britain's Daily Mail, "It’s my dream role. It would be the true story as opposed to the legend of this dandy highwayman. He was a vicious criminal and a murderer.
"His face was heavily pock-marked and he was a thin man with a stark face; I could play that."...
