Hallmark Renews ‘Home & Family’, ‘Good Witch’, ‘Chesapeake Shores’, Sets Date For Christmas Kickoffs
The Hallmark Channel on Wednesday said it has renewed its flagship daily lifestyle series Home & Family for a ninth season along with reupping its original series Good Witch for Season 7 and Chesapeake Shores for Season 5 as Crown Media Family Networks unveiled is 2020-21 programming slate.

Crown Media also announced the first 18 of 40 Christmas movies planned for the company’s two flagship networks, Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. In the works are projects with the likes of current network regulars Ashley Williams and Kimberly Williams-Paisley on a two-part movie about real sisters, with each of them playing the lead in one of the films. The company is also developing projects with Holly Robinson Peete and Tamera Mowry-Housley.

Both Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas” and Hm&m’s “Miracles of Christmas” movie blocks will kick off October 23, Crown Media said, the former with 23 new original films and the latter with 17 originals.

But we have good news today as Crown Media announced new original programming and some renewals we've been waiting for.

Most importantly, there are two renewals to announce that join When Calls the Heart for (fingers crossed) a 2021 release.

Good Witch will return for a seventh season, and Chesapeake Shores will return for a fifth season!

Hurrah!

As you know, Good Witch Season 6 just ended on quite the cliffhanger.

It was the first season in which Bailee Madison didn't appear as Grace, and in Rhys Matthew Bond only made guest appearances as Nick.

Without the younger cast, the adults got a lot more storylines, and love flourished.

Cassie (Catherine Bell) and Sam (James Denton) celebrated their one-year anniversary and began to grow under each other's influence.

The proved that there is always something left to learn about your partner.

What will Elizabeth Thatcher do next? Hallmark has announced they've ordered an eighth season of the When Calls the Heart TV show. The plan is for it to debut in 2021. In years past, Hallmark has aired a new When Calls the Heart holiday movie in December but, due to the pandemic, that doesn't seem to be happening this year.

The historical drama series stars Erin Krakow as Elizabeth Thatcher, a young teacher from a high society background who assigned to teach in a coal country classroom. The cast also includes Jack Wagner, Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith, Chris McNally, and Kevin McGarry.

It's nearly time to return to Hope Valley. Hallmark Channel has announced that When Calls the Heart will return on Sunday, February 23rd, at 8:00 Pm.

The characters were last seen on Christmas for the When Calls the Heart: Home for Christmas movie. Compared to the previous season's feature, it was down by 29% in the 18-49 demographic and down by 19% in overall viewers.

No Lori Loughlin? No problem for the Hallmark Channel, which has teased the seventh season of When Calls the Heart with a special Christmas night movie, sans Loughlin for the first time.

Loughlin is currently embroiled in a college bribery and tax evasion investigation involving the alleged bogus admission of her daughters to USC as athletes. When the scandal broke, the scheduled When Calls The Heart series was delayed, with Loughlin edited out of the remaining episodes. Cast members Erin Krakow, Jack Wagner, Martin Cummins, Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith return to the show for the seventh season. Hallmark announced its 2019 holiday movie lineup on Wednesday — and it’s packed with romance, family reunions and all the wintery goodness imaginable.

The special 10th anniversary edition of the top-rated programming event, Countdown to Christmas, begins in October on the Hallmark Channel and encompasses 24 new, original holiday movies. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Miracles of Christmas will also premiere 16 new films.

A total of 40 films will premiere on both networks in 2019, starring everyone from Kristin Chenoweth to Kathie Lee Gifford to Lacey Chabert.
