Erik Walet
- Actor
Dutch singer, composer and actor. Back in the 80s, the bleached-blonde
Dutchman, who embodies the rock 'n' roll spirit like no other, was the
vocalist of the Amsterdam-based garage rock band The Songbirds. Living
in Amsterdam and Copenhagen, Walet founded several musical projects
over the years, such as JoJo Dildo and Wallet & Laughter (produced by
Urban Dance Squad DJ DNA), amongst others. In Denmark, Walet had a
longtime collaboration with classical composer Mads Nordheim. They
worked as songwriters for the late Dutch musician and artist Herman
Brood and German punk icon Nina Hagen. Walet and Nordheim also produced
music for TV commercials and film.
Inbetween, Walet was a member of the art collective Art Porn and regularly appeared as an actor on the cult TV show Ultra Vista! After traveling the world, Walet moved back to his hometown of Amsterdam in 2006, where he met musician and studio engineer Alain Tempelaars. Together they started the BoMDoG project and recorded the CD Face New Crime, which they describe as a "city rock street glam statement."
In 2009, Walet is working on a solo project involving a number of musicians, such as Mike Garson (David Bowie's pianist) and several video artists.
