Brendan Ward received a B.A. from Hunter College, an M.A. from Cornell,
and an M.F.A. in screenwriting and playwriting from the University of
Iowa Writer's Workshop. He was a Mommsen Fellow at Balliol College,
Oxford and a Visiting Fellow, Center for the Study of Conflict,
University of Ulster. He has taught at Yale College and Yale School of
Drama, New York University, the Film Academy in Hanoi, the Escuela
Internacional de Cine in Havana, Cuba, and the Dramatiska Institute in
Stockholm, Sweden. He is professor-at-large at FAMU, the Czech Film and
Television Academy, Prague. Ward's television credits include "Maude"
(Emmy nomination) and "Good Times Harry" for CBS. His feature films
include The Empty Mirror (with Jean Claude Carriere), A Woman Apart,
and The Alexander Cylinder for New Horizons Entertainment; and October
4th (with Giancarlo Giannini) and Central Avenue for One Hand Clapping
Pictures. Series include "The Renaissance Popes" and "Bedlam" for Ivy
League Productions. His producer credits include six short films for
"Cinemax Presents"; 40 short films for "American Corporate Profiles"
(for CCTV, Beijing), the ongoing series for China Television
"Entertainment Tonight, China" (Paramount Joint Venture with China
Television); and three feature documentaries, Cuba, Island of Music;
Duke Ellington; and Autism. He was co-curator of "In the Name of the
Nation: Retrospective of Irish Cinema" at The Film Society of Lincoln
Center and the Irish Film Board in 1995.
