Big-band vocalist, noted for rich, emotional phrasing of ballads. She sang with the orchestras of Charlie Barnet, Claude Thornhill and Art Mooney. Her biggest hit in 1947 (with Thornhill) was "A Sunday Kind of Love".
Billy Eckstine convinced her to use the name "Fran Warren" as a
performer.
When she was 16 she auditioned as a singer for Duke Ellington's band,
but was not hired.
