- During the early 1960s, he was a writer for the New York Post and an occasional contributor to Forward.
- Recipient of highly prized Silurian award for country's oldest professional news society, for lifetime excellence in journalism. Reporter-columnist for New York Post, nominated for Pulitzer Prize for work on Lee Harvey Oswald Story, 1963.
- Joe Wershba started at CBS in the late 1940s, working first on the radio and then moving over to television journalism. Joe worked with Edward R. Murrow on some of the most famous See It Now (1951) programs, including the courageous shows that challenged the tactics of Joseph McCarthy. He was one of the first producers assigned to work with Don Hewitt on 60 Minutes (1968), and has won at least 2 Emmys, but as Joe says, "If you're in the business long enough everybody wins awards."
