In the "Polityka" weekly magazine ranking for the most important Polish actors of the 20th century he came 8th.
His first movie appearance was a small episode in "Eroica" by Andrzej Munk in 1957.
He joined the "Ateneum" theater in Warsaw in 1958, in which he spent almost 30 years. In 1986 he joined the "Nowy" theater in Warsaw and played there until his death.
Studied at the "PWST" acting school in Warsaw. He graduated in 1958.
In 1979 he received the 2nd degree award from the President of the Ministry Council for his acting creations.
In 1981 he starred in a science fiction movie "Wojna Swiatow - nastepne stulecie" by Piotr Szulkin, which received awards at International Science Fiction Film Festivals in Trieste and Madrid.
In 1980 he gave a masterful performance in "Cma" (1980) by Tomasz Zygadlo, which brought him another lead role award at FP Film Festival in Gdynia, and two awards (Best Actor and Journalists' Award) at the Moscow Film Festival.
In 1975 he received his first lead role award for "Zaklete rewiry" by Janusz Majewski at the FP Film Festival in Gdynia.
Fame brought him 2 TV series roles: the protagonist in "Kariera Nikodema Dyzmy" and the superintendent in "Alternatywy 4".
His first big role happened in the "Czterej pancerni i pies" TV series, in which he played Olgierd, a tank crew captain, for which he received the 1st degree award from the National Defense Ministry.
